In the past years we have had a Doll Diaries Dolloween Parade showcasing dolls of all kinds dressed up and ready for a Halloween costume party. This year I am hoping to have it set up so you can upload your own Dolloween photos directly and don’t have to wait for me to get them posted. (I am a busy gal, you know!)

So start getting your dolls ready for the parade. Any doll (American Girl, Barbie, Tonner, Madame Alexander, etc) or bear (Webkinz, Build a Bear, Gund, etc) that is decked out for Halloween is invited to participate!

Stay tuned for details – I hope to have the page set up by mid-week.

And there may will be prizes for the best photos! I have a few goodies in my secret American Girl stash that I will be giving away (will announce prizes when I announce the start of photo submission) and if there are any doll related vendors that want to donate a prize to our contest, we’d love to showcase your product!

    Its because Kirsten is not a very big seller for them. Sam was, an there was a mad rush to get her things. Most of them sold out quickly. Kirsten’s a different story, because she’s not very popular, she won’t drum up big sales.

    I agree with Lena. But I am annoyed at that as well.

    I’ll see if I can put together costumes for my dolls and send the pictures in. Maybe, maybe not. I’m getting them ready for their Fall 2009 photo shoot. I plan to have a photo shoot every season starting now, and I may do some holiday photo shots, too, but I’m not sure yet.

    I got a response from American Girl today about Kirsten. I asked them if they would also do a “share your memories of Kirsten” like how they did for Samantha and here’s the e-mail.

    I already have all my dolls halloween outfits picked out! You can see them on the Kirsten page, but if anyone needs me to repeat them, I will. I also am exited because I saw at Harris Teeter last time I went these little doll-sized pumpkin trick-or-treat buckets! I couldn’t get them at the time, but my mom went to the grocery store today and she said she will get me them! There are 6 plus I have the little brown bag the came with Molly’s hula costume so I think although all my dolls will dress up, 7 will go trick-or-treating and the 3 others will be neighbors giving out candy. Oh, this’ll be a fun photo story to write! Happy early Halloween! I am being ketchup for it while my friend is mustard! Haha!

    I’m here. Anyway, I’ve started sewing. I went my first class at a lady’s house on Tuesday, and made a travel tissue holder. This Tuesday I am making a pin cussion then after that I think we get to start our own chosen project! I do it with my friend although she does it on a different day. The sewing machine is SEW FUN!!! Heehee! :)

    Hi Madeline! I have to brush up on my sewing machine knowledge to continue making a work dress for Nellie. I’ll get around to it…eventually. Their Halloween costumes come first, and I’m going to see if I can get away with making them without sewing them!

    I am really happy because my mom made reservations for Colonial Williamsburg last night! I am so excited! We leave on December 27th and come back on January 1st. We are also seeing Monticello and parts of Maryland and Delaware. I am so happy!

    Has any1 seen Jon and Kate + 8 recently? Did u hear they were going to rename it Kate plus 8??? I don’t like it at all. I feel bad 4 Jon. He was just doing wat he was supposed 2 but Kate kept yelling @ him!! When the show premieres as just Kate, I’m not watching. I will go straight back 2 the old episodes and imagine them b4 all this drama. Sry if u like Kate or not like the show, but I just had 2 get that out.

    Sara, I personally think both of them are at fault. After he was dropped from the show, he immediately stopped the taping out of the blue and threatened to prosecute TLC staff who trespassed. And that’s after the girlfreinds issue, but that isn’t very approprite for this site. Case and point, they’re a messed up couple.

    Anne, I wish I could go to colonial Williamsburg! The closest I’ve been is George Washington’s house near DC. They had a museum shop of some sort selling dolls … they were really expensive so I got a mini one. I can’t remember much else.

    That’s cool, Madeline! If you do go, give me a rating! We were originally going to go next summer but we decided that we may not appreciate the southern heat and opted for the winter instead. Next summer we may go to Europe. I’d love to go. My parents haven’t been out of North America (Canada and Mexico for them and Canada for my brother and I) so it should be neat. I’m crossing my fingers that we get to go!

    We might do DC and Washington’s house in April. I love seeing presidential houses! We have one (not saying which) only 20 minutes (drive) or so away. We went two summers ago. And we went to FDR’s this past Spring and saw some of the other old (huge) estates up there.

    I agree with you, Lily – both Jon and Kate messed up and I really pity them. It’s too bad for the poor children.

    Guys, have you seen the new American Girl catalouge with Molly on the cover? If you go to the hospital page, they have a picture or a doll with marker all over her face and frizzy hair. I know how that can really happen, but it’s so fake how they advertize it! They are like, we can fix your doll again! But all they do is just put a new head on. It’s like, they don’t even TRY to do anything like actual try to get that stuff out. My Josefina used to have bad hair (I fixed it) but when she used to her actual “head” had nothing wrong with it. Only her hair. I wrote to them about it and they said, “you just got to get a new head”. And that was $40!!!! While some people can re-wig and replace strings and that much without a new head!!! AG just wants to make money! Ugh!

    I think they can fix/replace a retired/PM doll but it would not be the original. But I’m not 100% sure of that. Nellie is such a cute doll overall, so I can imagine how adorable she looks in her costume!

    If I end up dressing my dolls up this year, I will be making their costumes.

    The one I bought is in very good condition. Her hair is still silky too. I just need to clean her legs off before I sell her and she’ll be good to go. I don’t really prefer one doll over the other. I like my new Felicity’s hair color better since it’s more of a bright auburn instead of dull rust color. And I kind of like the old Felicity’s chubby face more, but not enough to sell my 2005 Felicity, especially since I paid full price for her. I’m just not a Pre-Mattel purist. They’re great dolls, but so are the ones that around today.

    Guess what? I got the AG Doll School set! It’s so awesome! It has, like everything!!! I payed my own money for it! I already had like a little math meeting school thing, but all these things will change my little set into a whole entire school!!! My brother and I made everything like the textbooks, punched out the library cards, made books, and more! Now all there is left to do is make the piano (we didn’t have the right paper) and play! On American Girl Fan.com by Liz, she will show you everything inside it.

    P.S. I went to like a cupcake factory place today after church, and it was cool! You went in and picked out a cupcake flavor, then went to all to all these tables step-by-step to make your own, full cupcake!!! It would be an awesome place to have a birthday party, but mine is already planned. (this saturday!!!!)

    We had skool 2day but it was fun cause we had a Civil War day. That means we got 2 dress up as if we were from either the North or the South (the teachers dressed up 2!! One was Abe Lincoln! And she was a girl! And short!! It was funny!!!!!!!!) And renactors came and showed us artifacts from the Civil War! It was cool!

    So cool, Sara. I would love that, I know you did! For Thanksgiving, we get to dress up as pilgrim/pioneer people, etc. And 5th grade is fun, I love it. :) We get to have to biggest Christmas and Thanksgiving and etc. parties because it is our last year of really having them. We always only have recess to 5 min- 20 min because ess is just all we left of the day.

    A lot of schools here had the day off – but none in my district. I got the day off from my college (which is weird because they never give us any holidays and to get this holiday off, of all holidays, is odd, don’t you think?) and chose to not do any work online/workbooks today, either!     Cool! I think this ridding hood cloak will work well instead of Lissie’s cloak, since I’m starting on Colonial & WWII this comming year. It looks exactly like it, the same length and all.     So you won the costume, Lena? Cool! If you care about the AG brand then get the cloak, but if not, use the one you have instead, if you feel it is similar enough to the original one (and it sounds like it is).

    I have read that the ends of Felicity’s cloak fray because they are unfinished. Did the ends seem finished to you? I will probably get all of the doll coats/jackets/cloaks eventually, as well as some important accessories to make (display) period rooms/spaces for each of them (probably combining Samantha and Nellie, though) eventually, but not for now. I still owe my parents some money and am in the process of buying all of Addy’s retired dresses (1 down, 5 to go, I believe) and my brother’s birthday is coming up so I have to get him some stuff, too (we are really close, so that’s probably why we buy each other a lot of birthday presents, though I get him more because he is younger and earns less money).

    Yes, the ends of the cloak did fray. I had to trim a few strands here and there. I think the reason why it went for so little is because I mentioned that there was a very, very small pale black stain on part of it. It wasn’t a big deal and even took me awhile to notice.

    I like Rebecca more than Julie (i have both of em) because her hair is easier to care for. Julie’s hair is long and could get tangled. I recommend Julie to 11+ or 10 year olds that are responsible.

    Bubbles, I think you’re dead wrong about the hair. I have both Rebecca and Julie too. Rebecca’s curls get messed up so much more easily than long hair. It doesn’t take much to make a doll like that into a frizzy, poufy mess. I’m not sure what you are doing to Julie’s hair to make it so hard to manage.

    Case and point, if a doll’s hair isn’t treated well it will look awful.

    I find it really hard to keep curls in. The 6 year old I babysit has Nicki, and I constantly re-curl her hair (in a safe form, of course…braiding and twists.) Dolls with curly hair need a lot more care.

    Me neither. I’m gonna to (try to) see a scary movie. “I Was A Teenage Werewolf”. I’ve only watched the first chunk of it and turned it off (I watched it in the dark!!) cause I was so scared! :) If that fails then I’ll watch Twilight. :)

    Ugh. But a day after that starts my busy month of November. I have my 7th and 8th grade play, sing w/ my choir several times, go on a lock in w/ my youth group, orthodontist appointment, Bible Bowl, Thanksgiving, New Moon, rake leaves for people w/ my youth group, play Underground Church and have a wiener roast w/ my youth group, acolyte at my church, ANOTHER thing w/ my youth group, and guitar practices! WHEW!!!! See wat I mean?
