I recently figured out how to make doll sized books in a very simple way! I wanted to share them with you as this month has so many literary celebrations. April is Poetry Month, World Picture Book Day, and some of the most wonderful writers celebrate birthdays this month! Here is an easy and no mess way to make as many books for your dolls as your Dolly Library can handle!
- 8 ½ by 11 inch paper
- a small tape loop for dolly to hold her book
- *Stickers, crayons, pencil crayons anything to make your book your own. I used some Molly Stickers that I got at Michael’s the Craft Store (Joann has them too).
Step 1– Fold your paper in half like you are making birthday card
Step 2– Press the fold along the edge
Step 3– Open your fold and cut along the edge
Step 4– You will now have enough paper to make two books!
Step 5– Fold one piece of your papers in half, length wise.
Step 6- Fold that paper in half; make a crease, then unfold
Step 7- Fold one edge in towards the center seam, repeat on the other side
Step 8– Unfold your paper as shown in the photo above. Then make a cut from the folded edge to the center.
Step 9– Unfold your paper and refold as shown in the photos above, it can take some getting used to but when you get it folded into the four main pages as shown in the third photo above you know you are almost there!
Step 10- Press the seam along the books “spine” and you are ready to decorate your book!
Step 11– Write your own story! I used stickers but you can write, draw or color great books for your dolls this way! Make as many as you like and share them with your friends! I trimmed the stickers so they fit in my book. Use a small tape loop to help your doll hold her book as I did below.
Enjoy your new book!
Today I used my Ivy American Girl Doll wearing an outfit a friend made.
