For today’s post I thought it would be fun to show how you can make your doll a pillow from your own country using items you may already have for the up coming national holidays of both the USA and Canada. In Canada, where I live we celebrate our nations birthday on July 1st. This year is Canada’s 145 birthday. On July 4th in the USA American people will celebrate it’s 236th Independence Day.
For today’s craft you will need:
- Two identical flags of the country of your choice, you may be able to find these in a package of 2 or three at your local dollar store or party store
- White craft glue or a glue gun (have your parents help you with this)
- Stuffing such as cotton balls or cotton batting
Step 1 – Carefully remove the flags from their flag poles (save these for another craft)
Step 2- Add a line of glue on 3 sides of your flag. let it dry.
Step 3- Open the unglued side of your flag and stuff with enough stuffing to fill your pillow.
Step 4- Add another line of glue to seal your pillow closed. Let it dry.
Step 5- Let your doll put it on her bed, or add it to her favorite chair.
I hope that you enjoy your nation’s holiday! I look forward to sharing more ideas with you next week!

Firstie! This is so cute! I think I would like to try sewing it, instead of gluing it, and this is perfect because I just bought pillow fluff last week and I haven’t done anything with it, yet. Can you try making a doll bed, and some clothes, or costumes for dolls?
Maggie – I have some ideas – hopefully you will like them.
