This weekend marks the start of fall for us here in the Western Hemisphere. I love fall and today I wanted to show you an easy way to make a Fall Rake and Leaf Play set for your dolls out of items you may already have in your craft box!
To make today’s craft you will need:
- 1 chopstick
- 1 toilet paper tube
- Duct Tape
- Artificial Leaves from a craft store or paper leaves you cut out and color from paper
Step 1- Gather all the items you will need for today’s craft.
Step 2- Separate your chopsticks from each other and save the other chop stick for another craft or create two rakes.
Step 3- Use your scissors to cut an “L” shape out of the side of your toilet paper tube on each side. The bottom of the “L” shape is at the midway point of your toilet paper tube.
Step 4- Cut snips that are 1 inch in length along the bottom edge of your toilet paper tube as shown in the bottom left photo above.
Step 5- Bend back every other snip as shown in the top right photo above and snip the bend pieces off.
Step 6– Open the top of your rake shape and insert the chop stick. Cut a piece of tape from your duct tape and tape the chopstick to the toilet paper tube.
Step 7-Use your scissors to cut a snip in each side of your duct tape at the bottom of your “L” Shape. Then wrap the tape around the chopstick handle. This will help hold the chopstick in place.
Step 8– Use more duct tape to cover your “rake” once you have it all covered again use your scissors to cut 1 inch snips along the bottom, removing every second one as you go. Your previous snips will act as your guide. Now your rake is complete.
Step 9– The leaves. I bought some maple leaf garland from my local craft store at the end of the season a few years back so for my play set I pulled off a dozen from the garland. If you do not have garland in your craft box you can use colored construction paper and cut out your on leaves. Fun Foam Leaf shapes from your dollar or craft store would also work.
I hope you enjoyed today’s craft and I look forward to sharing more crafts with you again soon.
Today I used my American Girl Doll Ruthie wearing the Hoodie from My Doll’s Life.
