Doll Family Photo Frames

This is the time of year for family and friends and today’s craft is inspired by all the wonderful photographed memories of the season. One of my favorite things is photography. I love having photos of my family and friends on display thought out my house. Some I only pull out and display this time of year. You can even use photos of family and friends from holiday’s past as place cards at your holiday dinners! Now that my mail box is stuffed with wonderful catalogs and flyers of lovely doll items I got an idea to use both my American Girl doll stickers and  catalogs to create doll sized photo frames for my dolls to display their own family and friends. This craft is one that would make a great rainy day/snow day craft or party craft for your friends to enjoy.

To create your own Frames for your doll’s family you will need:

  • Lids from soda bottles, juice bottles, salad bottle lids or small jars.
  • American Girl Historical Stickers or Catalog images (You could also print images from the internet of your favorite dolls)
  • Gem stickers
  • Large Buttons ( I used buttons from http://www.buttonsgaloreandmore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=LK150)
  • Glue Dots or Glue Gun
  • Glue Stick
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

Step 1– Assemble all your supplies.

Step 3– Select your sticker or small image from a catalog or printed image.

Step 4– Apply your sticker or glue to the surface of the top of your lid.

Step 4A– If you are using a catalog image or printed image place your lid over the image you have selected and take your pencil and trace around the image. Use a glue stick to place your cut out image on the lid as shown in the photos above.

Step 5– Use gem stickers around the outer edge of your image to create an embellished edge to your frame.

Step 6– Turn your button wrong side up, so that the flattest edge is facing up. Apply a dab of glue from your glue gun or a glue dot onto your button. Then hold your lid and press it into the glue on the button. Stand it up and let it dry.

Step 7- Repeat on all your remaining lids, display on your dolls bedside table or even as “place” cards for your dolls Thanksgiving Dinner!

I hope you enjoyed today’s post. I used my Ruthie American Girl Doll in today’s post as well as my American Doll Room background.
