Delaney’s Doll House

I just love seeing how creative you all get with your doll displays, storage and projects!! One of our readers, Delaney (who posted as agisthebest for a long time but now goes by Delaney) took the time to photograph the doll space she created and did a write up for us as well. ENJOY!!

American Girl Doll Space

Here is an overview of my American Girl Dollhouse. I got the furniture at American Girl, Walmart, Target, and a few other places.

American Girl Doll Space

Here is the living room. I got the bean bags at Walmart from the Friends Boutique line of 18 inch dolls. They were $5. The Lava Lamp was from a toy store that I can’t remember the name, but I am pretty sure you can get them at places like Michaels. You can see my dolls Lanie and Emily on the beanbags, and they fit them perfectly.

Here is the bathroom. The sink/vanity is from American Girl, the bathtub is Our Generation, ( It also came with a ton of accessories) the pet tub is a retired American Girl piece which Licorice is in, and the toilet is a baby wipe container. I have collected many accessories for the bathroom, and they are all here, most stuck in drawers.

Here is what I call The ” Main Bedroom.” Molly, Emily, Lanie, Riley, and Julie all sleep here. The beds are from Target, and the bedding made by me.

Here is the bunk bed with pull-out trundle. When I got it, it was very plan looking and blah, so last summer my mom and I fixed it up a bit. I made the bedding. We had some left over pink and orange beads ( main colors of my room and my dolls) from my curtains, so we cut the beads and stuck them on the bed, along with pink fuzzy stuff. When I first put my eyes on Julie’s bed, I wanted it. But since I couldn’t have it, my mom and I made this. To tell you the truth, I like this better!

Next to the Main Bedroom, I have a little desk for my dolls. I put Lanie’s laptop on top of a Dollar Tree container, and, that was a desk! It is a very simple but cute way to dress up your dolls’ room!

Moving on to the next floor, we have the kitchen and dinning room. I got the sink/dishwasher/mini fridge from an online store called 18 inch doll furniture, I think. I also got the stove there. The cabinets on the walls are from Hobby Lobby, and then I painted them white. I got the big fridge (Hello Kitty) from Costco. ( it was meant to be something that kids put in their room so they can have cold drinks. In other words, it really works!) It was a little too short for AG’s, so my Uncle made me a a box that has a drawer to put things in! Now, it looks like it has a freezer under it!

Here are all the appliances with their open drawers or doors. The sink really makes water sounds, the dishwasher makes dishwasher sounds, and the stove makes frying and baking sounds! I can store all of my doll food in the fridge!

American Girl Doll Space

Here is the dining room. The table and short chairs are from American Girl, and the tall chairs are from Springfield. I got the tall chairs because I wanted to be able to have all of my dolls sit at the table, which now easily fits 6. Julie is eating a cupcake from American Girl.

Here is McKenna’s room. It’s right above the kitchen. Before I had gotten McKenna, this shelf had a bunch of storage that might have been dolls I don’t play with anymore, old doll clothes, furniture, accessories, and the like. Then when I got McKenna, had an idea about making the Attic ( what I used to call it) McKenna’s bedroom. So I cleared it off and started looking around my room for things that would make good furniture pieces. I found a mini vanity that I got way before I knew about American Girl, and it was the perfect size for a vanity for her. Then I found a shelf from OG that would make a great place to put books, magazines, and little statues to go. so I put things there. Then I found a jewelry box that was being used as a paper weight (It had ballerina slippers on it and I don’t do ballet anymore) so I used that as a chair. ( It is very fancy and it has fuzzy purple stuff and gems on it.) Then I gotanother Dollar Store container and turned it into a desk. Then I put some school supplies ontop and it turned out super cute! But I still had a problem. No bed! I then got an Our Generation box and put OG bedding on it. It turned out really good! I also had a few extra pillows, and added them, too.

I hope you enjoyed My American Girl Dollhouse as much as I have writing it! Good luck with your dollhouses!

THANK YOU Delaney!! I know I really enjoyed this and encourage other readers to send in photos of their doll spaces for all of us to enjoy.

Chey, thanks so much! I have 6 dolls, but soon to be 7, because I am getting Rebecca! If you want to know which ones, all of them are in this post. Thanks again!

  3. Amanda says:

Wow, Delaney! That’s so awesome! I have the same beanbags, though I only have one. I have the orange one! That’s a pretty tricked out doll house! (lol, I fail at ‘cool’ language)

Where did you get those cabinets above the kitchen? They are ADORABLE!

  4. Delaney says:

Thanks! I got them at Hobby Lobby, for $5 dollars.

  5. Amanda says:

Hmmm… I think we might have one of those around here! That’s a great deal! Was it $5 each? I’m hoping to ask my dad if he could build me a dollhouse, but I love your idea of just using shelves. If only I had enough room. My room is big, but all the space is taken. Eh, I’ll find somewhere for it!

  6. Delaney says:

    yes $5 each.

  7. Amanda says:

Cool! Next time we go somewhere with a Hobby Lobby I’m SO gonna have to get those!

  8. Delaney says:

Ya, and don’t think I am really weird to have that Hello Kitty thing, It’s just the sticker won’t come off, so I just pretend my dolls are Hello Kitty lovers, LOL

  9. Amanda says:

I would never think someone is weird for having a Hello Kitty sticker! I think it’s cute. And, hey, it’s better than having sticky residue from the sticker, right? But no, I didn’t think it was weird at all.

  10. Delaney says:

Thanks! It adds a little to my doll house. And the best thing is, it was only $10!

  11. Amanda says:

Yeah! OOOH!!! Think of it as a magnet!!! Everyone has magnets on their fridge, right? And that’s the key, shopping on a budget! I’ve found lots of Dollartree stuff for my dolls. It’s like a treasure hunt!

  12. Delaney says:

Amanda, that’s a good way to look at it!
