Cute Doll Sized Lunchboxes
My daughters and I just got back from Target where we found the most adorable, doll-sized tin lunchboxes in the $1 aisle.
They are even big enough to hold doll lunch!
We only saw them in Coca Cola or Sprite designs, but there may be others. At $1 they were too cute to pass up.

I was forced to read (and annotate) the Hobbit for school two years ago. Reading it was fun. Annotating it wasn’t.

No, it takes AG awhile to send out catalogues. When I got the first catalog since Rebecca’s release in mid-June, Rebecca wasn’t even in it.

No, they don’t. Mixed races don’t count. Besides, I know “black” people of mixed race. They have heads shaped like the Addy mold.
Still, AG could’ve gotten an African American face mold without making Addy look liike a horse. Literally. Give her some ears, tail, and saddle, and presto! I know that seems insensitive, but I really do like Addy.

The name “llama” is just kind of funny. In Spanish, if you want to say “My name is…” you say “Me llama…” It’s not pronounced the same. Instead it sounds like “yama”.

they are, lily. i learned all about them since i’m irish. lena–it would fit best in the 1840s, since that was when the famine in ireland was, but i would kinda like it during 1814 because since england still ruled ireland (they still did in the 1840s, ended in 1913) she would have trouble siding with america since all her family back in ireland had to side with england.

swim team amazingly went very well. I came in 2nd for back, and the 1st was a 13 yr old, who’s been doing it since she was 4!!!! I didn’t do free, but did a relay. Everyone on my team was sooooo slow we lost like 5 teams, I covered 3 and almost caught up w/ the 4th (not tryin’ to brag!) .

The new clothes are cool, but not exactly what girls of today actually wear. At least they are a little bit casual.
Emily and Julie, but only because I don’t really care for the GOTY’s. I only like the historicals. But go with the dolls you choose, not the dolls we choose.
Emily and Julie were my original choices, but I’m tempted to get Chrissa and her swim team outfit now (since it’s summer) and not at Christmas. I think I’ll stick with the historicals for now.

Couldn’t AG have been a little more creative? I hate recorders. We were forced to play them in elementary school and I only got to hot crossed buns. Whenever we did more complicated songs, I just fingered the recorder and didn’t actually make sound. I’m musically challenged, but there’s better things to be good at.

You guys like the angel outfit? You do know the wigs are PERMANETLY attatched? I’d prefer if the wings came off, but that may be me.
I don’t like the angel outfit at all.
I don’t like it much, but the wings not comming off was the icing on the cake for me. And I don’t like cake.
I haven’t mentioned that I opened my AG gifts (and the ones I bought with my own money – and there were a lot of those) on the 25th (my birthday). Lissie is so beautiful – my favorite outfits on her are the work gown, the rose garden gown, the town fair gown, and the laced jacket and skirt. I like most of the outfits but not some of the currently non-retired ones – they make her look too wealthy and are totally unrealistic in that regard. Lissie is middle-class, right? So why did AG retire all of her plain, everyday clothes and come out with these frilly dresses she never would have owned?
Because they wanted her to look like a princess?
She is middle class, and that girl (being who she was) wouldn’t enjoy dressing up. She’d rather steal Ben’s breeches and ride Penny (she had this outfit. They retired it)
I don’t really see the need for an angel outfit – but that might just be me.
Also, I hate Lissie’s new meet gown – it is too fancy for daily use and the fabric does not feel authentic to the time period. Purple, or that shade of lavender, does nothing to highlight her beauty. I will always thing of the rose garden as her meet dress and the new one as the traveling gown. I wish it was still that way, but like I said, Mattel seems to like to retire all of the simpler dresses and exchange them for fancier (often tacky) ones.
Was the fabric of that horrible dress the same when it was the traveling gown? I don’t think I would mind the dress so much if the material was like her work gown (Lissie is in my arms in her work gown at this very moment).
I know – I have the breeches and I like them. I will never dress Lissie in those princess-like dresses. I only have them because I collect every outfit (not including jackets/coats and nightgowns) of the dolls I have.
BTW, I totally agree with you. There was a certain charm in her simple dresses that these new ones don’t have. I like simplicity, so did Lissie.
I don’t give a rat’s rear about how “realistic” the dolls’ outfits are for their socioeconomic class. If it’s pretty, I’ll get it; if it’s ugly, I won’t.

Yeah, the meet gowns of Felicity and Elizabeth are some synethic, polyester feeling material. I would’ve preferred cotton, but it’s pretty and looks great next to Elizabeth.

Shopping at AG can be kind of stressful. You have your family breathing down your neck and you’re trying to decide what you’re going to get without breaking the bank. Sometimes in person stuff is uglier (or prettier) than in photos.

My mom enjoys my collecting hobby, so much that she offered to buy me Ivy for my birthday. We saw Ivy in person in NY last year, and my mom fell in love with her.
The real wooden recorder is beautiful. The ones you get in elementary school – now that’s a different story.
Lucky you, Lena. My parents are not big collectors in general, unlike my brother and I. Everything we own, for the most part, is part of a collection. My parents don’t mind the AG dolls, but they will only get them for me for my birthday. I have tried explaining the whole thing to them, but they aren’t really into that sort of thing. My mom and dad didn’t collect much of anything as kids. These days, my dad has well over 2,000 cd’s (a lot, I know) and my mom likes different fabrics and little decorative things she puts around the house. That’s it.
I can’t imagine not collecting all of the things I do.
OK, a totally random question: who likes old houses? I absolutely love them! I live in a very historical town. Most of the houses were built in the 1920’s, but we have so many 1800’s houses, 1700’s houses, and at least one 1600’s house as well. My house was built in 1887 and it is the oldest on the block by one year only (there is an 1888 house right across the street). It is a very simple shingle-style home. Most shingles homes were built between 1880 and 1900 and they were an alternative to the fancy Queen Anne houses being built at the time. Except in parts of New England (, shingles houses are relatively uncommon and it is a very eclectic style. Some are fancy-ish, but most are relatively simple. Additionally, the houses were intended to blend in with the scenery around the structure, as opposed to the eye-popping Queen Anne style. The siding on these homes was usually stained or painted a simple earth-tone. Ours is a brick red.

My parents grew up in communist Poland, so they really couln’t collect anything. My dad doesn’t really care, but my mom has a collection of Ikea furniture in our house, fabric she sews with, cookbooks (hardly used, she cooks from memory) and she supports my dolls collecting (although she does think I’m too old).

I love the old homes, even from WWII. My hometown in Poland is very old (home to one of the oldest wooden churches in Europe) and has such beautiful homes and buildings. My grandma’s home was a rich doctor’s house, and you can still tell by the placement and size of rooms. uhhhhh IDK if y parents collect anything!!! The closest thing I can think of is my dad’s air force stuff. He used to be a grim reaper (LOL) and fly F-15 s so he has a bunch (OK, a few) of model airplanes. And his flag.. and his helmet!!! I collect dolls and stuffed animals. oh, and most importantly, post cards, even though I haven’t even been to most of the places!! Plus quarters from dif. states.
our Celabration house was built in either 1999 or 2000 ,… I think I was like 4 so IDK. Our house here was finished right when we moved .. so 2006.. I think!!! Some of our air force homes where old, i think.

Selena, I just decorated my room and it looks great! And it was CHEAP! The theme is pink + polka dots. Ikea has great ideas! My DREAM theme would actually be brown and pink because those colors look amazing together, but I went for the colors I could find easily. It was really fun, whenever everyone comes in my room, they think its the most cheeriest room in the house because of the light walls. I’d totally want a roxy theme but that would be wayyyyy expensive!

I lost my baby teeth late. My last one, a canine, came out about a week before my 14th birthday. It is still growing in – I had a gap for the longest time, but I really didn’t mind. I knew a girl who lost all of her baby teeth, molars included, by the time she was in second grade. I remember when I was in second grade and had only lost a few teeth how weird the idea of losing molars seemed! I think lost two teeth in first grade, two in second, and then I didn’t loose any until late fifth grade, which explains why I was pretty late in losing my last one.
Lena, my mom also collects cookbooks, though she rarely uses them for anything other then general inspiration. She makes up Italian-style meals (her grandmother was Italian and, from what I understand, she was an excellent cook) and we eat that almost every night. We are eating at the Moosewood Restaurant in August when we will be in the area. My mom is so excited because she owns several Moosewood cookbooks and has always wanted to eat at their restaurant. I am excited because I love food!
My room is the smallest bedroom in my house (and they had really small bedrooms back then) with the biggest closet (because there was no “master suite” then, either). I love my room. It is directly over 1/2 of the living room and it is the only room with bay windows. The room is a hexagon and the three windows are on three of the walls. The room is very light pink with slightly darker pink trim and the ceiling is white. There are thin lace curtains over the windows with seperate blue gingham curtains over it (on the sides) and separate, smaller different lace curtains draped over the top. My room gets loads of light but the afternoon sun is the best. The room gets a glow when the afternoon sun comes in. I have billy cabinets form IKEA on two walls, but I got them when I was younger and the store doesn’t carry the ones I have anymore. On display on my dresser, desk, bookshelf (top part), and cabinets are my collections; AG dolls, old dolls, rubber ducks, carousel music boxes, TY beanie babies, Russ stuffed animals, awards, bird figurines, animal parts I found in the woods (an antler and a small jawbone being my prized items in that category – and yes, I found them myself in the reservation not far from my house), and my “one thing from every place I have ever been” collection. There are also numerous little items scattered around the room, and antiques can be found everywhere. Everything is very neat. It all makes for a very pretty picture – I wish I could post pictures and show you guys! Oh yeah, there is also a crab apple tree right outside my bay windows and when they bloom in the springtime, the flowers are really close to my room! My room looks sort-of Victorian, or at least old-fashioned, when you look at the whole picture.
My parents don’t think I’m too old for dolls – they say that people of all ages collect all different things. They don’t understand the whole AG thing, but that’s OK. They don’t tell me I have too many, though.

I never really re-did my whole room; rather, I changed aspects of it as I got older and my tastes matured (everything in my room was once pink). Originally, I wanted my room to be hot-pink (I was 3 1/2 at the time) but my parents insisted on going with the shades they chose. Then, when I was 10 or so, I went through a huge tomboy stage. I wore boys clothes and didn’t want anything to do with anything that might be considered remotely “girly.” I wanted to paint my room blue, but now I am glad I didn’t. Although I am neutral on the color, it looks fab in my room and I wouldn’t change it.
My house has a white carpet and white walls rule. My room is dark red, cream, and black.

yeah, I love the Clique books! I’m reading Dial L for Loser right now, but then Twilight got in the way of my interest, hopefully I get to read the rest soon. No Ive never met a girl name massie! But I know a masy (like macy). Actually, they do have pretty good plots that actually deals with things teens/ pre-teens go through with cliques, although they are extremely S.N.E.R.T characters at times

I read the first chapter of Twilight and was bored out of my mind. I know you really shouldn’t stop a book so early, but it seemed so stupid and like it wasn’t going to shape up – ever. Besides, I’ve heard that Bella is weak and clingy, and I prefer to read stories about strong female characters.

The real plot doesn’t come in until about 350 pages in. The first 350 pages are of Bella saying how gorgeous Edward is. (I prefer my vampires brunette and non sparkly)

I started reading the Twilight series cause my teacher let me borrow the book while I was bored out of my mind in class, and I was surprised how much I like it! Its really cool actually, bella’s sometimes pretty funny. i am so sick of people saying “oh, but vampires dont sparkle!” or “well at least jacob doesnt sparkle!” puuuuh-lease, vampires aren’t real, they can be whatever the storyteller wants them to be. erg, so annoying. ive been having lots of dreams about vamps lately and I think its because of Twilight, lol. so not what I expected! I’d recommend it ‘cept my friends say theres a few parts that aren’t too appropriate, but i’ll just skip those parts. Oh, and im NOT a twilight freak

I called it a saga (in quotes) because its official name is the Twilight Saga. I think that sounds silly. Saga is a dramatic sounding, weepy word. It should be a series. But still, the definition of long is objective.

Im a fan of the twilight SAGA. I like to call it that. But not because Edward’s hot or whatever. I dont like Edward. I heart Jacob. But i like it for the story. Oh if ur a fan of the Twilight Saga read Wings. I read it because on the book Stephenie Meyer said it was a great book. Its about an orphan girl named Laurel whos a fairy and flowers grow from her back. Its so good. Its got the love traingle thing too because she loves a human David but a fairy boy named something I cant say loves her. Buy it! Its realy worth the money I read it in 2 days because I loved it so much and if you like strong female characters perfect. And she doesnt sparkle. So i guess i’m a werefairypire. LOL. Sorry to bring all this up but I want more people to read this book. Better than how I summarized it. Also read the Vampire Diaries series
