What a nice day for a picnic! Kirsten is enjoying her picnic spot in the woods today.
She came up with a few friends to enjoy the mountain air,…
and roast marshmallows over a campfire. She loves day trips to enjoy beautiful places and be out in nature!
Make a picnic spot for your mini dolls! Ours is in the woods but this picnic spot can be anywhere your dolls want to visit, the beach, the park or even their own back yard! The set includes a picnic table, benches, stools for around the campfire and marshmallow roasting sticks!
- craft sticks
- mini craft sticks (optional)
- yard clippers
- Aleene’s Tacky Glue
- Sculpey Clay
Before we get started let’s talk a little about cutting the craft sticks for the project. Generally craft sticks are too tough to cut with regular scissors. Using the right tool to cut will make this a safer project. I find that yard clippers, like those pictured above, easily cut craft sticks. I have also seen special scissors that are made strong enough to cut through items like craft sticks. Either way, get help from an adult and cut safely!
These little stools are perfect to sit around the fire to roast marshmallows!
For one stool you will need:
- 6 craft stick segments- about 1 1/4″ long.
- 1 segment about 3/4″ long
For the seat, set out 2 pieces side by side and glue the 3/4″ piece on top in the middle. For the legs glue 2 ends of a craft stick segment to one side of the 3/4″ piece on the the seat. Repeat and glue 2 ends to the other side. Set it aside to dry.
Mini Marshmallows on Roasting Sticks
- White Sculpey clay
- 2 toothpicks
Let’s make mini marshmallows on a roasting sticks! Trim off on end of a toothpick. Break off 2 small pieces of Sculpey Clay. Roll them one at a time into a ball between two hands. Press the ball slightly between two fingers to make the marshmallow shape. Gently push it onto the pointed end of the toothpick. Press it gently onto the toothpick or use Sculpey glue to hold it in place.
Two little stools and two marshmallow sticks are fun additions to a picnic scene for your mini dolls.
For the picnic table I am using a combination of mini craft sticks and regular craft sticks. If you only have the regular size of sticks you could always trim down the regular size to get the right length. Mini craft sticks measure 2 1/2″.
For one picnic table you will need:
- 5 craft sticks
- 6 mini craft sticks
Lay out 5 craft sticks side by side. Glue 2 mini craft sticks perpendicular to them as pictured above. Cross two mini craft sticks and glue as a squatty X. Place a second set of 2 craft sticks onto of the first and glue the top 2 together. By lining them up with the first they will cross the same way to be able to make even legs for the table. Set them aside to dry.
After the glue is set, glue the table legs to the table top as pictured above. Set it aside to fully dry.
Make a couple benches for the picnic table.
For one bench you will need.
- 2 craft sticks- for the seat
- 2 craft stick segments 3/4″ long-for the legs.
- 3 small craft stick segments between 1/4″- 1/2″
Lay 2 craft sticks side by side . Glue the 3 small segments, one in the middle and one on each side. Glue the leg segments on each end next to the small segments. Set it aside to dry.
After everything is dry set up the perfect picnic spot for your dolls!
Whatever you do, be sure and bring some mini friends along to enjoy the picnic! Kirsten is waiting for her friends to join her at any moment!
