One of the most fun things to add to doll play is doll food which is the main point of this week’s Camp Doll Diaries theme, “Let’s Get Cooking!” Our friends at Sophia’s Heritage/My Doll’s Life are the primary sponsor this week – and you will certainly understand why by the time the week is over! Let’s get started!
Our new Sophia’s doll, Bree is working at the Sweet & Snack Shoppe this week and will be giving campers a tour and some baking lessons later this afternoon. I made her apron out of Gummy Bear Duck Tape placed on a piece of patterned felt and folded over another piece of Duck Tape to make the waist tie. Now her apron is reversible.
Using the Sweet & Snack Shoppe background, concession table and food sets from My Doll’s Life, I set up the play space. You can get creative here – use any flat surface – even box with fabric over it – as your counter, then collect your doll food and set up your scene. Don’t have any doll food or dishes? Search those words on Doll Diaries (the search box is in the right corner) and you will find all sorts of fun ways to make doll food.
A closer look at the counter display I set up. The food sets from My Doll’s Life are so much fun! They come in decorative storage boxes, are well made and very affordable. Plus you can find them on Zulily from time to time or just use the DIARIES code for 20% off at MyDollsLife.com.
“Oh, hi Bree,” said Chrissa, “What are you doing at the Sweet & Snack Shoppe today?”
“I am waiting for the Camp Doll Diaries campers to come to the store for a tour and a baking lesson,” answered Bree.
“Oh everything looks amazing – how could I even begin to pick just one treat,” Chrissa said.
“Umm, Chocolate Chip?!?!? What are you doing with that cookie?” exclaimed Chrissa.
“I guess she didn’t have any trouble deciding what she wanted,” giggled Bree.
The cookie that Chocolate Chip chose is actually made out of Sculpey by Natalie. I made the little red wagon out of a small box, Duck Tape, Gatorade lids and buttons for the wheels and a bendy straw for the handle.
So, now that you know what the theme of the week is, get creative!! Show us what you make, create or set up! Send in your Camp Doll Diaries photos to firstname.lastname@example.org for inclusion in this week’s Camp Memories post over the weekend.
