Bronte Sisters Power Dolls

A friend of mine shared a great video with me today – it is a a fake commercial  made in 1998 for a series of educational shorts about action figures based on historical figures. It is silly, but I love its recognition of famous writing sisters and girl power!! Go Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Bronte.

Thanks Randa!

Cool! I love the Brontë sisters. Those are the only classical novels I’ve actually finished.

  3. Grace says:

    Thirdie
    LOL Lena.
Thats awesome, but what do you mean “fake” commercial? :?

  4. Char says:

“fake” commercial means that someone made this video in the style of a product commercial, but in reality, there is no such thing as Bronte Sister dolls. They just made it for fun or to show how they thing a commercial for that type of product could be made.

  5. Ava says:

Dang! I wish the pudding was included.

  6. Jessie says:

WOW! They’re opening AG store in Kansas! Click my name!

I’m thinking AG will never ever make any stores in Pacific Northwest!
Why not? Washington is a big state…Talk about Microsoft,Amazon and stuff….lol.
And I’m wondering why they are not building American Girl Place in Florida.
American Girl Place in Florida=Lots of money. Why not? I’m sure AGP Florida will get crowded in summer!

  7. Jessie says:

Go to ag website and click 40% sale
sundress and party treats are being sold-and they’re all
supposed to be chrissa’s. But they put sundress on another
doll and renamed it! Sundress for dolls…lol

  8. Lena says:

Jessie, yes it would. There;s a reason July is called tourist season here.

They didn’t put it on another doll. Its one of their bad photoshop jobs.

  9. Meg says:

Cool, hi i am new. jessie i check it at ag thanks!!!!!!!!!!! i am probably going to get a chrissas dress for my lanie doll and for me. i love ag!!!!!

  10. lily says:

i was confused when i saw the sundress, what was that about??? it was sold out when i clicked on the forty percent, though :( why were they under a non-chrissa name??????? sry for my bad grammar

  11. lily says:

  12. meg says:

  13. Erica says:

I’m on the school newspaper staff and the teacher who’s in charge of it has some historical writer action figures. I think she has Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe and Jane Austen.

If you think this is funny, go to youtube and type in “Barbie’s House” watch the first part and then the second part. iT’S HILARIOUS! It really shows that life in Barbieworld isn’t all glamorous. Oh and they’re making a new version of Jane Eyre! It will star the girl who played Alice in Alice in Wonderland as Jane. Mia W…… [can't say last name] is her name.

  14. Lena says:

    Mia Wasikowska?

I actually don’t like Jane Eyre. She’s kinda the mother of all Mary Sue’s, and kind of a boring character. I did like the other people in that book though.

  15. Hal says:

That is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time!! It is sooooo random, but I love it!

  16. Grace says:

Guys I wont be on for a while. plz dont ask why.

  17. Alyssa says:

Very Icarly and Sonny With A Chance ish.About the pudding not included.I am to young to read Jane Eyre.but did’nt one of them write Little Women. It is my summer reading book. Are there any more shorts abour that?
    Alyssa

  18. Lena says:

No, none of them wrote Little Women, that was Louisa May Alcott. Here’s what each of the Brontë’s in famous for:

    Charlotte: Jane Eyre & Villette
    Emily: Wuthering Heights
Anne: Agnes Grey & The Tenant of Wildfell Hall

Their brother Branwell was a painter & poet.

  19. Michaela says:

Lanie arrived in the mail today for me! I am so happy. She’s GORGEOUS! :D

  20. Alyssa says:

thank you Lena! now I rember.I was watching The New Electric Company and they said that.

Michela,I thought you quit writing on doll diaries.happy you got Lanie!

  21. Michaela says:

Well, I was getting a lot of spam in my email and I thought I was going to have to quit writing on Doll Diaries because of that. Yes, I did make that farewell post, but all of that (besides the quiting of Nellie’s blog) is no longer true. So, I am continuing to write! :)

  22. Grace says:

Hey Alyssa-what do you mean “very iCarly and Sonny With A Chance-ish”?

  23. Lena says:

Grace, I think she means the commercial is like something they’d do on their web/TV shows.

  24. Alyssa says:

    Lena, That is right.

  25. Emily L. says:

My mother found this a while back. WHAT THE HECK IS THE PUDDING DOING THERE FOR! :D

  26. Libby says:

    …interesting.
I really liked Jane Eyre :) I haven’t managed to struggle through Wuthering Heights (ditto Lord Of The Flies and Vanity Fair and Austen ;) ) yet and I didn’t know much about Agnes Grey.
