Bratz Dolls to be Discontinued – Thank Goodness

I have never been a fan of the Bratz doll line and we haven’t had them in this house since the first time my daughter received one as a gift – the baby Bratz doll was wearing thong underwear – eewww. So the recent news the Bratz manufacturer, MGA Entertainment, must stop producing the dolls because of a copyright infringement lawsuit from Mattel is music to my ears.

According to the court order, MGA must stop using the Bratz name and must stop selling the dolls as of February 2009.

I use to think that Bratz was kind of cool but then I realized that they sort of looked freaky. I mean, my mother really hated them and now I think I know why. I’m 29 years old and I’m still a huge fan of Barbie. Barbie teaches little kids about courage, honesty, and that girls can do anything they want if they really want to do it.

I’ve watched almost all of the Barbie movies and I like the message that they send to little kids. Bratz just shows kids that the mall is the only important thing in the world. I’ve never seen Bratz going to school or fighting bad guys that threaten their friends. Bratz have never been President, an astronaut, a vet, or even a Olympian. I don’t see Bratz as representing different countries or people. Barbie has been everything in the world and they make little kids want to be just like Barbie (in a positive way).

I do like the idea that the founder of Mattel’s rival has been able to live the American dream without any form of help. I think that it shows that anyone can succeed in America if they really want to. However you can’t make money off of another companies idea. It’s wrong, illegal and any other word that means just plain wrong. This man that drew Bratz knew what he was doing was against the law and that he could get sued. I think that Mattel should of kept him in the lawsuit instead of letting him go.

The laws that protect ideas are there for a reason. They are there to keep people from taking away another person’s idea. This is what happens when you break these laws and Mattel is totally in the right in what they did and I’m glad the Jurors saw sense. The only thing that I didn’t like was the fact that I have to see Bratz for the rest of this year. I wish that the Judge hadn’t agreed to a stay. I hope that by the end of this year Bratz is a total memory and that the company that took the big risk and made the dolls goes out of business (even though I won’t like the idea of people losing their jobs).

Bratz girls drink, go to clubs, and make girls wish they had a big head. My brother has a friend that has a big head and trust me it doesn’t look good. Bratz dolls tell children that dressing like a streetwalker is cool, not going to school is cool (because their not), and that the only thing that matters is looks. Barbie is wholesome roll model and despite the CEO’s words that Barbie should retire because she’s old, guess what. IT’S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN SO LIVE WITH IT!

Thanks for allowing me to comment.
