If I haven’t said it enough, I LOVE IT WHEN OUR READERS SHARE photos of the fabulous things they make for their dolls!! Amy sent in photos of the American Girl dollhouse she and her 8 year old daughter made. They were inspired by another house that was showcased on Doll Diaries.
Basically, it is three wood boxes that are 2 feet tall by 2 feet deep by 4 feet wide. They painted them white and then different colors for the walls. Amy and her daughter been collecting for a few years now. All of the furniture is a combination of items from American Girl, Our Generation, Springfield, and Etsy (Amy’s favorite is the handcrafted furniture from Esty) and a few random pieces from second-hand stores.
The library featuring a bookcase and Kanani’s chair.
The dining room - I love how she displayed the plates in the hutch.
The bedroom with Rebecca’s bed and a trundle bed. It looks like a fun girls night out going on in there.
How cute is the laundry room?? The washer and dryer set is from Our Generation at Target.
Inside the kitchen which is also from Our Generation.
Loving this bathroom for the dolls, too! I love Amy’s attention to detail and realism.
Very cozy living room.
And the office featuring Kit’s desk.
Thanks so much to Amy for sharing these photos! I just love them. To see some of the other American Girl doll sized houses we have featured visit the Dollhouses category.

I have a question for Amy. I was thinking about getting the Dreamy Daybed. I wanted to know the dimensions of it when open, if I was going to put the bed as if the pull out bed was facing the opening of the dollhouse. Thanks soooooooooooooooo much!
This is awesome doll house. Love the attention to detail. May I ask where you purchased the wood boxes? Thank you.
Beautiful!!
There’s one thing missing… theres no doll toilet.
cute my dads working on one!
Marissa, the bed is 20.5 inches wide and is also 20.5 inches long with the trundle fully extended.
So cool! My dad is building me a one room dollhouse aand when it is done I will send pics! Oh and I JUST woke up and reading this made me happy.
I love doll houses!
It looks like it took a lot of hard work to make that dollhouse, but I can see it was worth it. It looks amazing!
Cool!
Very cute!
This is AMAZING! I was just thinking last night of something to do with all of my stuff. Did you build the boxes or buy them somewhere? If you built them, did you buy wood already cut the right size? Sorry for al the questions but I love your idea and would like to do it
I really need a doll house for my American Girls but I think it is to much work!
cute
That is amazing!
I have an American Girl doll house with six rooms.
I want a dollhouse for my ever expanding AG collection.
Where did you get the boxes and how much money are they? i think they would save my family money instead of building it.
My husband and I don’t have woodworking skills or a workshop, so we paid a local carpenter to build these boxes for our daughter. He used MDF I think. If you go to Lowes or Home Depot, they may cut the wood for you, saving a step. I originally wanted to use bookshelves but could to find any that we’re deep enough. Hope this helps.
I want to build a dollhouse for my dolls, any advice?
You could make one from stronger cardboard boxes and use some duct tape with a nice design.
That doll house is really cool !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have one with 5 rooms
In the bathroom, wheres the toilet lol just asking
Thats so cool!
The fireplace, table and chairs and accessories is Journey Girls
Beautiful dollhouse Amy. Congratulations to you and your daughter.
