I know you are ready for a close look at another one of Saige’s outfits! I wanted to share her Sweater Outfit next because, honestly, this is the trendiest outfit I have seen from American Girl in a long, long time! It almost makes you wonder if they didn’t consult one of the talented designers from Liberty Jane Patterns or something.
The sweater outfit, which sells for $34 consists of stretch twill jeggings, a tunic length tank top with a very subtle print (which I LOVE by the way), a bright geometric printed open front sweater (can I have this in grown up size please?) and brown sandals with fringed detail that velcro in the back. If you are going to get Saige (or even if you don’t for that matter), get this outfit – the doll fashion police will thank you 😉
Before I forget, here is a close up of Saige wearing the earrings she comes with. I like them because they are not “cute-sy” earrings – they are the same flower design that is considered to be Saige’s symbol and they are silver.
And in case you were wondering how her ring looks from the side, you can see it is a C shape to allow for a better fit. Make sure when you put the ring on your doll’s finger that the open part of the C is up against the next finger over so it doesn’t fall off.
Here is the sweater outfit without the sweater! Saige looks so fashionable! I really do like the tank top. Of all the outfits American Girl has released in years this has to be one that they really paid attention to detail on (I feel the same way about Caroline’s holiday dress). They could have just used a solid color for the tank top but that would have been predictable and ho-hum. The patterned top gives the outfit more depth and more polish. Don’t mind Saige’s hair – I still haven’t quite figured out her curls yet.
I just liked this photo.
Now the completed look! The bracelet and necklace are from her accessory set, by the way. First of all, the jeggings are a bit tricky to get on – they are seriously snug. However, I have found that if you get the jegging completely over each foot before you pull them up, it is much easier. The sweater is a lightweight sweater knit (as opposed to a t-shirt or jersey knit) and the arms are snug. This photo shows what it looks like on before I really messed with it. You have to really make sure you have the sleeves pulled up to the shoulders and then you have to fiddle with the collar a bit to get the drape just right.
Saige can wear her earrings alone or layered with the feather dangle earrings from her accessory set. I’m not sure which posts I like best with the feathers – her meet earrings or the turquoise ones – both look great.
I pulled Saige’s hair up into a half pony so you could get a better look at her sweater. You can see that it does drape nicely, but you have to work with it – it does not fall that way on its own.
At first I thought Saige’s brown sandals were a totally new design from AG and then I realized that they are the same basic concept as Kanani’s meet sandals – just a different color, wider fringe and a back velcro. Either way, I love these sandals as they will go with ANYTHING! Saige does look like she could use a pedicure though – I wonder where the doll nail stickers are…
If you look at Saige’s hand you can see how thick the ring is in relation to her finger. Not exactly scale, but necessary for the play value and durability of the piece with this design.
To give you a better idea of how long Saige’s hair really is when it is down, I took this photo. You can also get a sense of how her curls look. I do think her hair is going to take quite a bit of work to keep it looking nice and to preserve those curls. The color of her hair is just gorgeous and looking around my office right now, I can definitely see that the auburn haired beauties are in control – I am surprised at how few blonde haired dolls we actually have.
I will share the close up photos of her Sparkly Dress tomorrow as it is a piece I was pleasantly surprised with. What do you think of Saige’s Sweater Outfit?
