American Girl Place New York Photo Tour

rebecca-agpnyA few years ago we visited New York City and one of our destinations was the American Girl Place on 5th Avenue. The store was absolutely magical as far as my daughters were concerned. One of Doll Diaries readers, known for her Bonggamom site, recently visited the American Girl Place in New York and has shared her photos both on her site (see Bonggamom’s AGPNY post) and on Flickr.

I love all the Rebecca displays – it is just such a neat collection. She also took some great pictures of the new Make a Tee activity that I saw at the Chicago store. You pick a simple t-shirt for your doll, select the color and then pick from a bunch of iron-on transfers to have applied. The activity is $10 – which is a bargin compared to just about everything else at American Girl Place. It is a nice little souvenir that the girls will enjoy doing.

Go check out her pictures and remember, if you visit an American Girl Place or even one of the Boutique & Bistro shops, we’d love to read the trip report or see the photos. Just email us at share@dolldiaries.com.

I’ve never been to New York but I want to see it a lot.Have any of you heard the Tiny Tin Hearts? They’re a band.

  3. brighteyes64 says:

i got those cereals yesterday at target.i mixed them both together this morning and they were good.

  4. Gracie says:

Cool.Tiny Tin Hearts rules! They are the best band ever besides the Beatles. Did they taste good?

  5. Sara says:

Char why can’t I see my last comment?

  6. Sara says:

Ok, that one showed up! That’s weird!

  7. Keanna says:

OMG! AG trademarked 3 names for the GOTY 2010. Its Emeline, Marie-Grace, and Laurette:D

  8. Madeline says:

Where did you see that and what does it mean, Keanna? Are those the possible names? I like Emeline!

  9. Brittany says:

It means that they are possible names for GOTY 2010. There’s been other supposed trademarked names however, and they never came about. I like Marie-Grace…I can’t picture any of those names for a GOTY though…most of the GOTY names are modern; Mia, Jess, Nicki, etc.

  10. Lena says:

Their trademarks match those of GOTYs, and not Historicals, unfotunatly. And they aren’t anything new. They were filed in February.

  11. Lena says:

BTW, its not stated weather those trademarks are for a GOTY or Historical, it just looks more like they are for a GOTY.

  12. Lily says:

Really, we need some info about the next GOTY soon. It’s been too long since we’ve had a new doll to get excited about.

  13. pioneerfan04 says:

Lily, I agree. It’s all ready mid-October and we still aren’t for sure about anything. :(

Sara– Ohhhh, your Civil War day sounds A.W.E.S.O.M.E!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope I get to do something like that, I would love to dress up like a pioneer. That’s funny how a boy in your class wore a bonnet! :D

I dressed Ruthie up as a pink princess. I put clips in her hair with pink gems and put Rebecca’s movie dress on her. And, I realized I have a mini AG B&B tote for dolls that’s pink that can be used for a trick-or-treat bag! I’ll send in a pic for the Halloween parade soon. Maybe this weekend. :D

  14. Gracie says:

My friend and I are going to dress our dolls up as princesses from different lands. She’s REALLY into mid-evil stuff like that

  15. Madeline says:

Ok, how did you hear they trademarked it? Where?

  16. Lily says:

    Mid-evil. Nice.

Actually, it’s medievel. To be fair, it’s easy to spell that wrong. And I like that stuff too. I want to take AP European History my senior year.

  17. Lena says:

    Haha, Lily, it’s Medieval.

I found the names on the US Trademarks site, along with many doll forums.

  18. Abby says:

Hey guys. sigh. my grandpa just passed away last night at 9:20.

  19. Abby says:

    I’m sick today. sore thorat.

  20. Lily says:

I wish the the a and e keys weren’t so close to each other LOL it was late when I typed that.

I’m sorry about your Grandpa (and your throat), Abby.

    Click on my name!!!

  21. Sara says:

Aw. That’s so sad Abby! :( I’m so sorry!

  22. Sara says:

Clik my name! It will make u feel better!

  23. Keanna says:

Idk, I just kept hearing those were gonna be the names. Yeah ur right Lena it looks like its for a GOTY. I really want to see a picture of her!

  24. Keanna says:

    And I’m so sorry Abby:(

  25. Anne says:

Cool video, Sara! Very funny! Made me smile. I’m not into Twilight but I remember Rob from HP.

Sorry to hear that, Abby. Double bad luck. I hope you are feeling better now.

  26. Madeline says:

Are you ok, Abbey? I’m sorry. Guys, my website is not getting visitors as much as it was. uh. Will you guys please go on and post at least ONE comment. Anything from simply “Cool!” or a long, drawn out message. Please, oh please!

  27. Rachel says:

I go to the New York American Girl Place twice a year. In June, with the gift cards I get for my birthday, and in December with the gift cards I get for hanukkah. When I go in December, I’ll take a lot of pictures and I’ll email them. Bye!

  28. sunbeemz says:

That is cool you get to go twice a year. I don’t even really get to go once a year! lol…

  29. Sara says:

Ok, have any of u seen the new video from New Moon? I’m sry, but when I watched it, I just started laughing. But I don’t kno why!

  30. Brittany says:

I’m sorry Abby! I know what that’s like. (: Click my name for a hug! (:

  31. priscilla says:

hey abby sorry about ur grandpa!! & i hope ur sore throat gets better,i hav a flu too!! :(

  32. priscilla says:

i hav never been 2 ag place it seems so fun!!!!!

  33. priscilla says:

Hi madeline, i commented on ur blog!! :)

  34. Gracie says:

Abby that is very sad about your Grandfather! I never met either of them

  35. Gracie says:

    My grandfathers.

  36. Sara says:

Ya it seems so many kids in my skool r sick!!!! 3 kids were missing from my class! And my History teacher!

  37. Lena says:

2 little girls in my dance class are missing, and its likley the N1H1 flu. No one from taekwondo.

Sara, I did actually watch the New Moon promo. It looks a lot better than Twilight, but I can’t get over the bad acting and cheesey lines. So I won’t be seeing it until its on DVD, just to get a laugh.

  38. Sara says:

The vid I was talking bout was the most recent one released. When Jacob and Paul transform. I just started laughing. But one thing I have to say Go Bella!!!!!!! :D

  39. Anne says:

Does anyone know why Felicity’s summer dress is so expensive on ebay? I mean it was around for so long and only recently retired, so I would not expect them to be listed for that much. I am lucky I got mine (dress and sash only) for $30-something. I was just checking out some things on ebay when I came across that. And I was really surprised!

  40. Lily says:

Lena, it’s the H1N1 flu, not the N1H1.

Yeah, I don’t really know why her summer dress is going for so much. But I am sure glad it is. Here’s what I sold the pieces for in late August …

    sash $28
    lace cap $22.49
    slippers $21.21
    straw hat $29

I was pleasantly surprised. It was worth more seperately than together.

  41. Anne says:

Really? That’s interesting. You got a lot of money from that one! I got mine in early June so it would be here for my birthday in late June.

  42. Anne says:

Lily, I see that Nicki and Marisol sold. How much did they go for?

  43. Lena says:

    Its called a typo Lily.

Retired Historical things tend to go for a lot on ebay, doesnt matter whos it is.

  44. Lena says:

And Sara, it was the promo most recently released. And I just didn’t like Bella in general, so yeah….

  45. Gracie says:

A few weeks ago one class had seven kids out and in another 5 or 6 on the same day but most of the time people in my school are never out sick often. : )

  46. American Girl Place NY seems really pretty. I have been to AG Place LA four times. I really like it! The Rebecca displays ARE awesome… her furniture is so neat!

  47. Anne says:

But, given how recently they stopped production of that dress and how long it has been around (meaning that there are many of them), I would think that the prices would be significantly lower. I mean, look at her birthday/Spring dress.

  48. Anne says:

Hey, Kirsten’s school dress has sold out!

  49. Lily says:

Nooo! I never bought Kirsten’s outfits and I so don’t want to pay eBay prices.

Nicki went for $150 and Marisol $112.50 … same buyer. That made finding a box to ship them in easier. I brought a box home from school on the bus that was the perfect size. Otherwise, I would have had to use an enormous box that would’ve exhausted my supply of fill-air bags and packing chips.

  50. Lily says:

Many things are a mystery. Like why on earth any of Samantha’s outfits ever went for $236. I forget which one. It was either lawn party or bird watching. I’d LOVE to get my hands on one of those NIB. Actually, I found an ad for one a few weeks ago (but it was already sold). The person was also selling Samantha and Nellie NIB for $65 apiece. Someone had already picked them up less than an hour after they were listed. I can’t believe that the seller didn’t clue in and realize that her dolls were worth triple and quadruple that amount.
