Over the weekend I was lucky enough to visit the American Girl Place Chicago at Water Tower Place and oh was it cool! I have been to the New York store as well, but the Chicago one was so nice! When I got there they were celebrating the historical character, Julie’s birthday.
For Julie’s birthday celebration they had a table set up for crafts – one of them was the “God’s Eye” yarn and popsicle stick craft that girls could sit down and learn to make. They were also doing Julie’s hair and teaching the girls new styles.
I took tons of pictures, bought Chrissa’s swim outfit, her sundress, the Bitty picnic set, and a shirt for my daughter – I will be posting them as I have time this week. Plus, my husband decided that I really look like Chrissa so he took my picture with the display. I may even post that!

Cool. I still want all the Chrissa stuff for Sonali.
SECENDEE!
Awesome! I’ve only been to the AGPlace LA twice, I’m not totally sure, but I think someone said the Chicago was the biggest of the original three
fourthie!!!!!
that is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! julie is so pretty! i love her hair color! and i have her mini doll and all of her books. she’s really cool, but i’m getting rebecca and molly.

Ive been to the one in Chicago and that was the only time ive been. that was like last December though. I think my new Kirsten doll was sent in the mail today. she will come tomorrow or Wednesday. and sweet Char!! i hope ypu post the picture of you standing by Chrissa’s Stand. hehehe….
Sweet blog Peyton!!! I love the playing at the park thing. do you have Kirsten or Chrissa?
LUCKY! I’ve never been to ag place! I hope u and ur daughters had fun!
Char, could you please post more pictures of Julie’s Birthday Celebration? I would love to see more.
PS- I love the style that is in Julie’s hair in the photo above!
happy belated birthday julie!
I’m really looking forward to your pics!!
I live in Chicago and have been to the store a lot.
I went to last weekend, too, and brought my Julie and Ivy. And my sister got Chrissa (It was her 13th birthday).
I also love your website!!!
Char, could you post more pictures of the celebration? I would love to see more.
cool
Thanks Abby! Glad you like the blog! Make sure to keep checking it! We update lots. No I do not have Kirsten or Chrissa but they are both gorgeous dolls. I do have Sonali, though. You can “become a follower” of our blog if you make an account on blogger… then it will tell you when we update!
That’s neat. I think AGP sounds like a really fun place to work! You could be around dolls and kids all day. I would really enjoy that, but would have to move to one of the locations, and I don’t want to leave my home state, even for college!!
I will get more photos up tomorrow. And I will probably post one of me and the Chrissa display – just for all of you!
Unfortunately my daughters did not get to go – they were at home with their grandparents – so I took lots of pictures for them.
Cool! I can’t wait to see the pictures! I don’t get to go to AG Places a lot, so I love to see pictures of them. I have only been twice; once to the old one in Chicago and once to the New York one. Both were cool, but I went to the Chicago one in 2006 so I don’t remember much of it. Anyway, celebrating Julie’s birthday sounds like fun!
I want Chrissa’s Swim Team Outfit for Sonali. My sister has Chrissa.
Hey guys:( one of the girls in my girl scout troop got swine flu and there’s only 8 of us?! I mean what are the odds? anyways i’m bummed for my friend (or foe i have both there) and girl scouts being cancelled it’s they only time i see my friends.
i have only been to the chicago place once when i got my first doll kirsten but i go to the new york one like 4 times a year!
Revised chapter two is up, although not much revisions there. I also finalized my list of custom dolls, although there is one I didn’t put on there cause I have all the stuff to make her and I’m working on it. I shall present her on Kirsten’s birthday, June 8.
My sister Rachel’s Birthday is today! Me and my parents are giving her Chrissa, and she has NO idea! I can’t wait to see her face tonight. I also made her a cute little dress with a matching dress for her doll. Her friend gave her Chrissa’s sun dress for her birthday.
Char, check your email! They sent out emails with Rebecca’s pic on them, and it looks like she has light brown hair, hazel eyes, and the original mold, and is a bit tan, but it could be AG’s bad photography.
Although now that I look at it, she cloud have the Josefina mold….
And she does look kinda like Mia. Red hair? It’s definatley light.
omg!!! do you have the pic posted anywhere, lena? if thats the case, im definatley gettin her! i may get her as my end-of-the-school year/ principal’s club present!! =)
Hold on…..
Namee clickee
OMG LENA~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know. You love me.
But Char probably got one too and so did other people.
BTW, the link is back to my LJ, but there is a link to Rebecca on the first post where it says Rebecca?
I haven’t gotten an email from AG yet. I got one today but it was about Chrissa (old news)!
Only select people got them, so don’t worry.
I don’t think the Rebecca doll is looking like the illistration at all!
No, she does not, and I have issues with that, but the doll herself is pretty.
What did the email say? Anything important?????? I saw “Win her doll collection”.
It said
“We’re keeping her under the hat until May 32 when you can meet her at an AG store neer you”
It’s not what it says, but it’s along the same lines.
eeep!!! soo cool!!
I SAW THAT ON MY MOMS EMAIL LENA!!!!!! SHE IS SO CUTE I HAVE TO GET HER!!!!
I just wish her hair was darker. But I’ll get her, and if I don’t bond, oh well, she’ll become modern.
I also think the first picture of her in the book don’t really look like her. also, still no luck on Kirsten. hoping tomorrow. I will get Rebecca too, and I asked my dad if I could go to the event where I learn about her and he said YES!! we leave June 6, Friday, and on Saturday, we arrive there on time, and later, I BUY REBECCA!!
But we still ahve to make stinking reservations.
Her eyes are beautiful! I told my mom that Anna (JLY #25) would be my last doll but I might have to go back on what I said! HA ha ha! Rebecca’s hair is a pretty color. Almost like a carmel candy.
Hurrah Abby! That’s so exciting!
I really love Rebecca’s hat.
Thanks Savanna! I’m so excited!
yep. i agree on that savanna.
Really? I don’t like it, but I’ll have to see it in person to make my final desicion.
