American Girl Opening Washington DC Area Store in June 2011

UPDATE -From what I can determine from the American Girl website and their online reservation system for dining, the Washington DC (Tyson’s Corner) American Girl Store should open on June 18, 2011. According to local newspapers, this date is correct.

Squeeee! This just in! American Girl is opening another store in the summer of 2011 just outside the Nation’s Capital in the Tyson’s Corner Center in Mclean, Virginia. You can guarantee we will be making a trip or ten to visit it (since it is just not that far from me!)

According to the press release:

The new American Girl store will offer the complete assortment of the company’s popular historical and contemporary dolls, along with doll outfits, accessories, girl-sized clothing, and a variety of best-selling American Girl books. In addition, American Girl fans will be able to enjoy a meal and a delicious dessert or celebrate a birthday in the store’s fun and casual 110-seat Bistro, treat their dolls to a new hairdo in the Doll Hair Salon, or design a cute doll-sized T-shirt in the “Creativi-Tees” boutique. A variety of girl-and-mom-friendly events and programs will also be offered throughout the year.

Some of the press the planned opening is already receiving:

We will definitely keep you posted as this store is built!

  6. Lena says:

*air fies back*. Yep, and they are easily my prettiest and most realistic dolls.

I’m debating if I want one in FL. On one hand, AG will be in FL. On the other, I have to pay taxes.

  7. Rebecka says:

want to go so bad but my saids its to far still I live in Va but 5 hours away from D.C. any sugesstion on how to convince my mom?

  12. Morgan says:

Caelen!!!!! I took a look at your latest post on your blog, and I thought of something myself!!!!!! I tried this with my mini doll kit, you can use almost ALL barbie furniture!!!!! I was so obsessed with creating my own little scene that I went and bought a cooking barbie set!!!!!! Great ideas!

  13. Cami says:

I hope that the new historical character will have a friend. I just really like the concept of a HC with a BFF. I wuold have the main character named Caroline McCabe (well I would prefer the name Colleen but Ag trademarked the name Caroline) she would have long wavy blonde hair with light blonde highlights from being in the sun with long side bangs, gray eyes, light skin with freckles.
I would have the best friend named McKenna. McKenna has long straight dark brown hair, brown eyes, light skin, Jess face mold.

  14. Morgan says:

Cami, I like your Idea for the new historical doll but I would Like an AA friend doll.

  15. Rebecka says:

Cami I love the dolls you “created”!! Hahahah I wish I could get them! Let’s hope AG makes them for real…. :D

  16. Cami says:

Yeah I would have the friend Asian or African American. Either one would please me very much!

  17. Rebecka says:

Yep I think they become more “interesting” when they are from another culture. I wish she was japanese! :D sorry I am really obsessed with sushi and manga and Japan lol :P

  18. Lena says:

Brown eyed, bangless brunette. Not black hair, brown hair. The features most common to white girls and not made at all by AG. That is all I ask of the new historical. I don’t like the idea of friends, and this doesn’t look to be the case here. No 7th book for a friend.

BUT… the weird authorship makes me wonder if maybe there will be dual historicals? Like the 1st book is about Cecile, the 2nd is about Marie-Grace, 3rd back to the Cecile, and so on.

  19. Cami says:

Okay just to be clear I DID NOT put the thing on the word Asian where you click on it and a different website pops up. I DID NOT put it there someone else must have.

  20. Char says:

Cami – you are right – it is an automatically generated advertising program I am testing out. I might keep it, might not. I am working with the ad company to tweak it so it ads value to the site without being annoying.

  21. Rebecka says:

Lena that is a very interesting idea. And I think it is so so wierd that AG does not have a doll with light skin, and brown bangless hair. There are probably more girls that look like that then girls who have blond hair.

  22. Morgan says:

OH!!!!!! That must be a new feature, although it can get annoying……….

  23. Lauren says:

Lena, I agree with your idea. That’s what I was thinking too. :)
