The American Girl of the Year (GOTY) 2014 book descriptions are on Amazon now. There are three books listed on Amazon which is different from the past.

American Girl GOTY 2014 Book 1 by Laurence Yep – GOTY 2014 is excited about starting her first year at the Anna Hart School of the Arts! But she can’t help comparing herself to her older sister, Jade, who attends the same school and is an amazing ballerina. GOTY 2014’s other classmates are equally talented, and she starts wondering whether she really belongs at her new school. She earns a role in the fall festival, but she struggles during rehearsals. Can GOTY 2014 learn how to focus less on those around her and more on her own dancing? With help from her sister and her friends, GOTY 2014 may discover a unique talent that she can truly call her own.

American Girl GOTY 2014 Book 2 by Laurence Yep – As GOTY 2014 rehearses her ballet routine for The Nutcracker, she wonders if she’ll ever master her pirouettes, especially with her classmate Renata pointing out her every mistake. She tries focusing on the other parts of the production she enjoys: exploring the costume and props room and helping out with costumes for some of the younger dancers. But when Jade, her big sister who also attends Anna Hart School of the Arts, becomes moody and withdrawn, GOTY 2014 taps into her design skills to try to find a solution for Jade. In the meantime, can GOTY 2014 find the confidence to tune out Renata and perfect her own performance, too?

American Girl GOTY 2014 Book 3 by Laurence Yep – GOTY 14 is doing great at the Anna Hart School of the Arts–her dancing idol Jackie Sanchez even invites her to go on tour! GOTY 2014 jumps on board, but she quickly finds that the traveling show has its challenges, not the least of which is bossy Renata who was invited to come, too. When the dance show suddenly starts falling apart, GOTY 2014 tries to help Jackie pull it back together–and begins to learn more about a mentor who encouraged Jackie to dance as a young girl. As GOTY taps into her talents to try to save the show, she not only discovers who inspired Jackie, but also how she, herself, can inspire those around her.

Thanks to Jenny for letting me know these descriptions were available.

I know what you are thinking? Its not quite April and we are already trying to figure out who the American Girl GOTY 2014 is? Well, of course we are!!!

I just followed a link from Living a Doll’s Life to a Universal Studios Home Entertainment casting call post and found this:

American Girl GOTY 2014

An Examiner article reads:

Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Martin Chase Productions are currently in pre-production on the seventh film in the American Girl series, “American Girl 2014″. This is the current working title of the film. The award winning casting director, who was formerly the executive vice president of feature castings at Walt Disney Studios, is auditioning actors to fill the lead roles. Additional casting for supporting and day player roles will take place as soon as the main roles are cast. A few of the roles being cast are a 10 year old girl with exceptional ballet skills for the lead role, a 12-15 year old ballet dancer to play the second lead role, and another 10 year old girl. Also up for grabs is the role of an ethnically diverse adult actress between the ages of 24-40, who also has expert level ballet skills. Shooting will take place in May throughout June, 2013.

“American Girl 2014″ centers on Blanche Palmer, a lively and energized 10 year-old girl who is very happy and full of life. Blanche has a dream of being a professional ballet dancer, but she has a bit of stage fright when dancing. This performance anxiety prevents her from exhibiting her true amazing talent. Blanche has an older sister Jade who is considered the very best ballet dancer in her school. The two enjoy a close relationship with each other, however Blanche always feels like she is living and performing in the shadow of her sister’s talent. To complicate her life even more, Blanche has a competitor named Renata who is the same age and dances with perfection since her parents hired a private coach. Renata is very pretty and very testy, and she criticizes Blanche for small mistakes in her performances. Jackie Sanchez, a recently retired world class ballerina, then becomes a role model for Blanche and her sister.

So, I am going to speculate that the character’s name is NOT really Blanche – because AG always has code names for the character. However, the story line may be accurate.

Do you think this is only a rumor or will the American Girl GOTY 2014 be a ballerina? If you have found any other details, feel free to share.

Thanks, Nina. Jenny- I guess so. I still like her second book more, so I am not going to change it.

  2. AGInParadise says:

    I agree, Sarah…

  3. Sophie says:

I really hope GOTYS does a doll with dark skin!!! I want to get a Girl Of the Year, but I want a doll that looks different then the two I have, and they’re both light-skinned. It’s also sort of unfair that none of the GOTY dolls have been black, in my opinion. There was Sonali, but she wasn’t really the GOTY- Chrissa was. I really, really hope this doll can have dark skin! Does anybody else want to see an African-American doll?

  4. Jenny says:

Sonali wasn’t Black-she was Indian American.

Also the problem with a Black GOTY is that she may not sell as well as AG wants her too.

  5. nyla says:

a black goty will sell just as great as a white one

  6. Jenny says:

If the only two AA Historical dolls aren’t popular, how can you be sure a GOTY would sell faster?

  7. April says:

I agree I really don’t want GOTY 2014 to be blond. I mean I think we’ve had enough blond haired dolls. And there are a lot of other hair and eye colors in the world. Not every girl is blond. And I hope her meet outfit isn’t pink. Also I agree that AG has to get a little more creative about their GOTYs. It seems every year it’s about a girl who has to over come something and she does. And it seems every year the girl is in some kind of sport. I mean there are more interests in the world than sports. Well if they decide to have GOTY 2015 have a sport interest then at least have it be different. Because Nicki (2007) and Saige (2013) are both into horses. And Marisol (2005) and GOTY 2014 are both into dance/ballet. I mean what about Vollleyball, Track, and Cross Country. Other interests are like Singing, Drama, Speech, Writing, or Band. These are just my opinions. If I offended anyone I’m truly sorry. I just think that AG should really expand on the creativity part.

  8. AGluverforev says:

The girl of the year’s name is Blanche Palmer. She has blue eyes and medium blonde hair. She is so pretty! But, I don’t attend to get her.

  9. crazy4chrissa says:

I just heard that one of the roles cast was a 14 year old girl named Erin Pitt!!! Does anyone know if she is gonna be the lead or does anyone have any other info about this? I am really excited about the GOTY!! Is anyone else GOING CRAZY for Jan. 1st? I am!! :)

  10. Jennifer says: The movie is in post production. They have cast an Indian Girl who is very cute with dark hair and medium skin. The movie web site is calling her Chloe. So I’m guessing that could be the name has anyone seen it on the trademark site?
