So, we still don’t have any pictures And I finally tracked down the cover of the book (thanks to a super amazing reader) for Lanie, the American Girl of the Year (GOTY) for 2010, and we know the storylines from her books.

I’m thinking I’ll be getting her accessories & outfits (cause I like gardening… flowers, but gardening nonetheless) but I’ll need to see the doll to fully confirm if I want her. Or at least book covers.
well,its seems cool,but does all she do is garden? then it would be pretty boring… i was hoping they would make one on global warming,divorce, or other things..but she still sounds really interesting.
Well, it says her aunt helps her…. so maybe she lives with her aunt instead of her parents?
oh and i think the gotywith divorced parents(2011? 2014?) should have a favorite song..that being “hey” by mitchel musso and she she should read the julie ag books & the dawn baby-sitters club books,so yeah,i really hope they make a new doll with a story like that. or one that wants to save animals(particularly whales,polar bears,igaunas and leopards & snow bears.) but would it be too much like kailey,then? probaly. oh well lol

They can only do so much before they start recycling ideas. Marisol was a good seller for them, and most of the target group wasn’t around for her, so i can see them doing another dancer in a few years.
No, but something counld have happen so she has to live with her aunt. This is pure speculation, I only know what you know about the books, only what’s up there ^^.

i don’t like to collect, becuz i just like to buy the dolls,acessories,andoutfits i like,becuz why would you buy something u don’t want,ya kno? my cousin wantted everything in kaya’s collection so she made her mom(she’s so spoiled.) buy it all for her even though she does’nt even like mst of it.
i mean she wanted her whole collection,not like she actually likes it, she just wanted to have it.
I thought she was supossed to like the outdoors- as in camping. This girl sounds to much like Josefina.
Collecting doesn’t necessarily mean you buy dolls out of obligation to yourself. I bought the GOTY dolls and all of their outfits from 2006-2008. But then Chrissa came along. I wasn’t impressed. I could’ve just gotten her anyway for the sake of my collection, or I could’ve saved my money instead. I chose the latter.
And if she’s not Black, then l’ll be pretty annoyed at AG.
The camping deal was speculation on my part. To be honest, the Lanie book plots sound a little boring. But I’ll give AG a chance to impress me in January before I judge whether she’s worthy of my money!

To be honest, I have only read Mia’s books and part of Chrissa’s. I like the historical books better.

The historical books are great. That’s how I got into American Girl.
Again, I think that was just the hopes of a few people on here. No evidence to prove anything yet.
I love Molly’s books. I read them over and over when I was little … Molly was my first historical doll and I got her story collection with the doll.

I’m glad we get to hear a little more about her books! Thanks for finding that, Lena! (And thank you for posting it, Char!) Her books do sound a little boring, but the summaries aren’t very extensive anyway.
I agree with Lena in that I will wait to see what the doll looks like before I say that I will get her.

her books sound pretty boring, but if she’s pretty, I hope to get her.
I must admit the book plots sound rather boring, but I’l wait and see. May buy her depending on what she looks like. I collect AG dolls and only get the ones I want. I saw Marisol with some accessories and stuff in perfect condition on craigslist for $150, but didn’t buy her because I don’t really like her that much. Same with Chrissa, I am not impressed by her. I don’t have Molly or Julie either because I’m not fans of them. I want Rebecca next!! Maybe Sonali, I don’t know though…can’t wait to see what Lanie looks like!!!

I personally see the charm in all the AG dolls. But for Lanie? Anything non-white.
yes the books sound quite boring. :\ I don’t really understand how she teaches girls new things, or really anything about life execpt or gardens- which pretty much anybody can do… like Chrissa does. Well we will just have to wait and see.
So far she sounds incredibly boring to me. I just hope that the reason they are retiring # 21 is because Lanie’s hair will be short and curly.
