American Girl Caroline Photo

UPDATED!

American Girl just posted this photo on their Facebook page:

American Girl Historical Caroline Abbott

Along with the following description:

You know her name. You know her year. Now discover more about our newest historical character as we reveal the Caroline doll and where her story takes place — Sackets Harbor, New York, on the shores of Lake Ontario as the War of 1812 begins. Stayed tuned for more about Caroline as we count down to her debut…

Here is a photo of the new American Girl Historical Character, Caroline Abbott.

American Girl Caroline

This came to me via one of our readers and was posted originally on the AGPlaythings forum by Jo who goes by Eurynome.

So, what do you think? I think I will need to see the rest of her collection first before I decide to buy her or not, but I was hoping for something a little more original from AG. Even if they would have made her hair a different shade of blonde that would have been nice…

The mystery remains – is that water behind her and if so, what body of water? It looks to me like she is on a boat.

Her books are available for pre-order and will be here before you know it:

The link that was sent to me for the photo was here.

    What was the email about?

I want an Irish girl from the 1840s.

Caroline IS pretty, but we seriously need a 50′s girl. I have a youtube account (My name is the link.), and I’m in an AGTube Modeling Academy called AGDPageants- the assignment I have to do is 50′s fashion- and I can’t easily go on American Girl and buy a 50′s outfit from them (Good quality clothes is a bit expensive on Etsy- we paid $25 for the outfit we got, it didn’t even come with shoes, and we desperately NEED shoes. -_-).

I would love to see an Asian girl from the era of Building the Railroads…….
There are so many Asian girls ( including my daughter from South Korea) who would love a doll from that culture.

While she was growing up, we had to have dolls custom made that really looked like her. I even designed some porcelain dolls to celebrate Korean New Year and becoming a citizen.
Our daughter’s first AG was Samantha…since her Daddy was from the Adirondack area and we know about the summer camps there.

They are really missing a huge market with all the adopted girls from Korea and China..no t to mention… all the young Asian American girls!

I think I might ask for Caroline for Christmas.
    She looks very pretty.
Her story seems interesting. (AGOverseasfan’s video gives some of the story away)
If I could pick 2 more dolls, they would be Josefina and Caroline.
I can’t wait to see more of Caroline’s collection!!!
    :)

  6. Tiffany says:

And where did you see her book covers??

  7. Tiffany says:

    oops wrong forum! :p

  8. Chey says:

I think we need Japanese,Asian,Australian,Swiss, and European girls!AG just has eras,no cultures! Kaya and Josefina are the only kinda ones that have some culture!AND AT LEAST 1 REDHEAD! -A MerCat

  9. Jenny says:

But how can AG represent these other ethnic groups? It’s a lot harder to actually create these characters than just thinking them up and claiming that AG needs them.

  10. Katie says:

    Chey – Great idea!!!
Jenny – Maybe, in how to develop the multicultural characters, they can be immigrants, just like Kirsten was.

  11. angela says:

    i think caroline is cute

  12. Jenny says:

    ============
But Kirsten was than just an immigrant girl: She was also a pioneer. And there were quite a lot of Scandinavian pioneers in Minnesota during the 1850s, so I doubt the Larsons were the only ones.

  13. Julie says:

I am Totally saving up my money and buying when she comes out! Although I thought she would have brown hair, oh well.

  14. M. says:

Pretty doll, but not impressed with the originality of her. She looks exactly like Elizabeth, which we already have. No need for another doll. But her clothes are cute…we’ll buy those.

  15. Lena says:

There were no Asian girls durring the rail building era. The Chinese that did come durring the gold rush/rails all inteded to go home to China after they were done. While there were SOME Chinese girl, they led very sheltered lives, since those that ventured out were sold into non-child friendly slvaery.

I’d love a later Asian girl, a 20′s paper daughter like in Julie’s mystery, or a Korean girl durring the war in the 1950s.
