Each year American Girl features its Girl of the Year doll - this year her name is Nicki, last year it was Jess, but this year they also held a contest to crown the real Girls of the Year. The Grand Prize winners this year were selected from more than 14,000 entries based on their stories of caring, contribution to the community, and compassion. WOW!

What I think is outstanding is that American Girl chose three girls as their Girl of the Year, but also highlighted twenty girls total on their web site. If you are going to be in New York City, Los Angeles or Chicago on June 29, the Girls of the Year will be on hand (one at each location it seems) for a special event.
