All The American Girl Dolls
When I went to American Girl Place Chicago a few weeks ago, I took tons of pictures and it is taking me some time to get them posted. Here are some group photos of all the 18″ American Girl Dolls (minus Chrissa, Sonali and Gwen). They are all so cute – it makes you want them all!
Starting from Left to Right, the Limited Edition Girls of the Year are: Lindsey (2001), Kailey (2003), Marisol (2005), Jess (2006), Nicki (2007), and Mia (2008). Since Chrissa, Gwen and Sonali are available now, they were not displayed here. All of the past Girls of the Year are now retired. They best place to look for the dolls and their outfits and accessories is on eBay (here is a custom search for them).
This was the display for all of the historical dolls – notice Samantha, Nellie, are not there (for some reason Elizabeth and Emily are missing from the display too). Left to right, Kaya, Felicity, Josefina, Kirsten, Addy, Kit, Ruthie, Molly, Julie and Ivy.
And the Just Like You Doll display. Each of the dolls is just so cute!

I’m laughing that the JLY’s are arranged by their numbers (1’s first, 32’s last, and i see 25, 26, and 27 are next to each other)

Personally, I miss my 25. Of my 4 AG’s, 2 are blond already, and it throws my balance of. Not to mention Sonali isn’t white and can’t have any other hair color than black…

So cute!! i remember when I went to AGP in LA they were arranged like that. It’s quite impressive to see!! I like how for each item you buy, they have a little piece of shiny paper that has a bar code and item description that you take and then you give that to the casheer and they ring it up like that so you don’t have to hand whole dolls and stuff over the counter!! I would really like to go again. I would have had the oppurtunity to go in August when we take my sister to college in Wisconsin, but i have a really important horse show and can’t go, so I’m disappointed.
me and my friend “borrowed” *cough*cough*sneekedout*cough*cough* a lot of those barcode things with the dolly pictures in them so we could make a doll yearbook, yeah never happened but maybe someday

It’s still saddens me to think that Samantha is gone! Of my 4 dolls (Molly, Sam, Felicity, and my Girl of Today), she’s one of my favorites. I could think of other dolls to retire then her… But, as long as the ones I don’t yet have are safe from retirement, I’m okay! (I’m thinking Kirstin, because somehow, I’ve missed picking her up many times and really should eventually!)

I think if AG were to retire another AG historical, it would be Molly/Emily, Felicity/Elizabeth, or Kirsten, but not necessarily in that order of likelihood. I don’t think they would retire Kaya, Josefina, or Addy because they are the only historical of their ethnicity (native American, Hispanic American, African American) and it would be taken as a racist act if they did so. I’m glad, because I really want Addy!

i’m reading all of the addy books and they’re really good! (i know that’s random. haha)
Addy is one of my favorite dolls. She was the second doll I ever got, and I love her story and have read all of her books many times. I agree that Molly might be the next to go. Personally, I wish they would get rid of Julie instead because I don’t like her very much. I do want to read her books though as I haven’t yet. I haven’t read all of Josefina’s books either, or any of Molly’s, which I really need to do. And Kirsten’s, I really want to read hers!!
Has anyone heard of the Robert Tonner dolls? Does anyone have one? I want to get one but they are really expensive, but SO PRETTY!!!!

OK, I know this is a little bit random, but does anybody here have the mini Kaya doll? Is her hair easy to style? Is it long enough to style in various ways? Do you like her a lot? R. Anne, from what I have hear, the full size Kaya’s hair is very hard to care for, and it is best to keep it in braids. I have no idea about mini Kaya, but I imagine the problems the same.
My friend has Mini Kaya and she is so cute! I want her but I don’t think I would take her hair out of braids, because I think it would be hard to care for, being small and long and all. I personally wouldn’t do that.
I have the mini Julie doll, and I love her hair. Even though she’s small, I can put her hair in french braids and stuff. Not sure about mini Kaya. My cousins have the 18″ Kaya, they one her from Hallmark, her hair is so hard to care for. I love #30, she’s soooo pretty, I love that look

Yes, The black horse and Jackson (who’s retired) have the same mold and those two fit the dolls much better.

cool, there’s another Sarah on the board *waves*. akshually…… when me and my cousin used to play dolls, her doll would ride on sparks flying, and it balanced her out BETTER than the regular sized AG horses. The full sized horses are pretty hard for AG’s to balance on TTUTT (to tell you the truth, NEW ONE), but the AG’s DO look funny on the ponies, and like Lena said kind of crush them

I don’t think Kirsten is Pleasent Company becasue her body is not white and I noticed that the older Pleasent Companys don’t have as good quality as the newer dolls becasue there legs are Rubber and the newer dolls feet are completly hard and plastic.

Abby, first off, only the the dolls were only made with white cloth bodies for until 1991, when Felicity’s low necklines made them change it. PC dolls do have cloth bodies. They are NOT rubber, they are still vinyl, just softer. And many collectors agree, PC dolls were better quality than Mattel dolls because they were more huggable.

The body color? Mattel didn’t change it. Pleasant Company did because it didn’t look good with Felicity’s low necklines. As for the vinyl, i have no idea.

akshuuuuually, saying a baby horse is a pony is more of a slang term because a pony refers to a small horse, and baby horses are small. Definition: a horse of any small type or breed. IOW, people call them ponies because they are small, just like the breed.

Um, yeah I’m pretty sure the book “is this normal” is like the book “the care and keeping of you”. I’d say its for girls like 11-13, but, eh, talk to your mom about it :-/. Its just a book about puberty, mebbe for tweens that need to know bout that stuff. ANYHOO, of course you didn’t sound mean Lena, I know what you meant. Funny, when I IM adults, I always use proper grammar, and it was so funny once, an adult I IMed, she told my Grandma what an excellent writer I was because her niece always uses text talk and I didn’t. She should see me in action with my friends! Some stuff I completely make up and even my friends don’t get it. Sometimes it gets pretty annoying because I’ll start actually talking to people in text talk, and like saying “Kay, mom BRB!”

Who else loves Rebecca’s meet outfit? I don’t see why AG had to retire Sam and Nellie – plenty of dolls have stories that take place 10 years apart, but tell the stories of different types of people living in different areas and circumstances (Kaya and Felicity, Kirsten and Addy, Kit and Molly). I was always hoping that there would (eventually) be a doll representing life in a different decade.

I like the idea, but AG’s already had a greek halloween costume, and it wouldn’t be very realistic. Only ancient Greeks wore that clothes, and even then, it was only rich women. A normal Greek 10 year old would probably already be married. Plus, it wouldn’t be American.
And bangs weren’t around until the 1860’s.
