Another one of our readers – Lorie and her daughter, went to their local Barnes & Noble for the American Girl Truly You event and sent in photos.
My daughter and I attended our local Barnes & Noble AG Truly You Event today. We wanted to share my photos and what our store did.
Today my daughter, age 11, and I attended our Barnes & Noble Truly You Event. All 30 spots were filled, but only 26 girls who pre-registered showed up.
The ages ranged from 2nd grade to 7th grade, with most girls being in 4th and 5th grade.
The tables were set up in the back where the toys are with pink table cloths. The crafts were already set out at each spot. When you signed in you were given a menu from the in-store Starbucks that had special AG items for lunch at a discounted price. There was also a cupcake decorating station and a table with AG Pink Water (water that had a little sugar and raspberries in it). My daughter has Celiac Disease, so we did not have lunch with the girls.
The event started a little after 11 and the girls at each table introduced themselves and said a little something about themselves and what school they attended. Then they introduced themselves to the entire group and shares what they like to do in their free time.
After intros, the girls completed the Dear AG Advice Columns and those who wanted to share their answers were able to. Then the girls did the Mirror Mirror drawing activity and shared their artwork. Next the girls colored in their 1st place ribbons and shared who they would give one to and why. Finally the girls were able to share their AG dolls.
About 22 of the 26 girls brought an AG Doll with them. Caroline, Saige, MgAG, Josefina, Kaya, Emily and Kit were all represented there.
At the end the girls all received goody bags filled with a Isabelle poster, AG frame, flower craft, journal, stickers, journal tags, fun questionnaire, and picture backings.
All in all my daughter and the girls had a great time. It was nice to meet up with girls that attended last summers Barnes & Noble AG Book Club. And it was announced that our Barnes & Noble will be hosting the 6 weeks book club again! All of the girls, especially my daughter, are looking forward to the book club.
Last summer, the cost was $10 a month with 2 book club meetings a month. The cost covered snacks and drinks from the local Starbucks. Each week was a different AG doll and one week the girls could read whatever character they wanted and share what they learned with the group. After each meeting the girls received goody bags with posters, crafts, treats, and other AG items.
Thanks Lorie for the great report!!
