A letter from the Vice President of American Girl!

American Girl made this contest JUST FOR CANADIANS! Woo hoo! You guy should enter it!

Lastly I’d like to say that Bitty Babies and Bitty Twins are not in the catalogue – AG is changing up their packaging right now.

  1. Lubna says:

Sarah: I dont think you should see it that way as for a looong time we Canadians were omitted from such contests.

  2. Erin~ An Australian AG Fan says:

Okay, if they make a store there, I will have a holiday in Canada instead of USA. If you think being Canadian in the big world of AG is bad, imagine being Australian! Now that’s painful.

  3. Jessica says:

Congrats Canada! And why are people saying they wish they lived in Canada instead of the US? The us has stores and you can get all of the AG items.

  4. Little jill says:

Wish the contest was in US too. There is this one MAG that i like but i don’t think i will get her ever.

  5. Jenny says:

Isn’t The contest kiiind of discriminating us?
Why? Americans were the only ones who could enter all of AG’s other contests, so why would this be considered as ‘discriminatory’?

  6. Lena says:

^Char needs a like button here so I can like that reply, Jenny.

  7. Nina says:

Cool! I had always felt bad for Canadians because it’s hard for them to enjoy AG. But this is awesome! Good luck all who enter!

  8. Char says:

Lena – isn’t that funny – I often want to “like” comments on this site or others, just like we do on Facebook. I wonder if there is a plugin for that… *** puts web developer hat back on and goes on a search…***

  9. Ella says:

Jenney- well, they have been a lot of contests for America and Canada. So I think its only fair that Canada gets a chance too. I’m in the USA so it would be nice to enter but its only fair.

  10. Meg says:

Cool! I am sooooooooooooo going to enter!

  11. Meg says:

Is it true that AG only sends you catalogs when you order from them a lot? Cause I havn’t gotten the new one yet and I’ve been waiting a long time.

  12. Char says:

Meg – I am not sure what their formula is. You can always go on their website and request one.

  13. Kathryn says:

Meg- I don’t think so because I still get the catalogs and I have not ordered since 2010(Lanie and Felicity).

  14. Karen says:

As a Canadian I find this very interesting. I have ordered for years. Having our own catalog seems strange but a we are a mostly un tapped market. I will let you all know when I get mine, if i do!

  15. Americangirl413 says:

I got my catalog on Tuesday, and I also entered the contest! I think it’s cool that AG is now welcoming Canadians to their store! Now, all that they have to do is open a store in all the provinces and territories! Then I’ll be VERY happy!!????

  16. AG LOVER says:

    I’m entered! ????????????????hope I win!

  17. Lena & Char- Haha! I always want to like posts or comments on here or on any other blogs I go on, too! That would be really cool if they had that option :)

  18. Little jill says:

Wishing hard for Addy or that My AG i love so much. Wish Ag would make a Caroline Abbott movie. That would be awesome. I mean the girls who replace Molly and Emily could have a movie.

  19. sabrina says:

Aww, I wish there were a contest for those in the US too! Hope a dolldiaries fan will win!

  20. agzebradancer (original Chloe) says:

Meg- I believe so! I never received 1 saige catalogue! I’ve got them since 2007!
last time I ordered was in January. I did get that catalogue but never received another.

  21. cordelia says:

When I went on the AG website to check the most recent of the new items, i was amazed to see how many items, both old and new, were no longer available for shipping to Canada. I phoned AG to inquire about this development and was told that now that AG had decided to market directly to Canada, the products were subject to Canadian regulations and certain items did not meet those regulations. The person to whom I spoke was not able to tell me what it was about the products that did not meet the Canadian regulations, but did say that AG was revamping some products, for example the Bitty Baby line, to be able to do so as soon as possible. I am very curious about this and wonder if anyone has any more information.

As well, I live in Canada and have received the catalogues for years with no trouble placing or receiving orders, although the extra shipping and processing fees has been a drawback for sure. I will have to see if the “direct marketing” to Canada means a lower shipping/processing fee in order to make AG more competitive with other lines, for example Maplelea.

  22. Char says:

Cordelia – that is very interesting insight. This will definitely be something to watch.

  23. Lena says:

Cordelia, there’s new Bitty books due out in fall, so there’s that.

  24. cordelia says:

Thank you for your comments, Char and Lena. I wonder if the new Bitty books will be available for shipping to Canada. I would think so if AG is planning to revamp that line. I am really curious as to what the products that can not be shipped have in common; so far I remain puzzled. For example, the entire Addy, Josephina, and Molly/Emily lines were not available of shipping to Canada when I last looked.

  25. Jenny says:

For example, the entire Addy, Josephina, and Molly/Emily lines were not available of shipping to Canada when I last looked.
    Yeah. D: I mean AG can’t just -revamp them…..

  26. Tarynn says:

Yay!! So many of AG’s fans are Canadian, so this is awesome! It’s kind of weird that they don’t let Quebec enter, I guess they are too lazy to write in French.

  27. Julia says:

Did anyone notice that it says to enter you must solve a mathmatecal skill to enter? And what does revamped mean?

  28. emmy says:

    is canada in america?

  29. Char says:

Emmy – Canada is part of North America. The United States is also part of North America but they are two separate countries.

  30. cordelia says:

Julia, “to revamp” means to revise or redo or to change in some way. However, I don’t know what this means in terms of any possible changes to American Girl products.

  31. Lena says:

^En Francais? Its my first guess, although that would only explain shipping to Quebec, not all of Canada.

  32. Alicia says:

Yes! Finally a canadian catolouge. Go american girl!

  33. Hailey says:

I was so happy when I found out about the Canadian contest!! I entered it right away! I was never able to enter the other ag contests so I was very grateful for this contest!! :) I also just got the Canadian catalogue too! πŸ˜€

  34. Hailey says:

For anyone who was wondering, the reason it’s not aloud to Quebec is not because of the French, it’s because Quebec has different laws than the rest of the country. Quebec doesn’t really want to be part of Canada.

  35. Nicole says:

I wish Americans could enter the contest

  36. Tina says:

    no bitty twins why

  37. cecilia says:

    Yay Im Canadian!

  38. Chloe M. says:

Tarynn~ I see in most Canadian contests that they usually don’t allow residents of Quebec to enter. It has always confused me.

  39. AG lover:) says:

I think that this contest is cool so Canadians can enjoy AG too!! Go AG

  40. carla says:

We have been getting the catalogue and ordering for years (in Canada) I also phoned about the ‘does not ship to Canada’ as these are items we have already purchased and shipped to Canada. After checking with her supervisor, she told me they were in the process of switching to direct marketing and these items would be available to ship eventually. It was very temperary as it is now gone from the website.
They have had a warehouse in Canada for some time.
We have complained many times about not being able to enter any of the AG contests. (only valide for US residents) so it’s nice to see we can finally enter one.

  41. Alex says:

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww the contest is only 18 years or older! BUMMER! Why would they make a contest for older girls when there for younger girls:(

  42. Char says:

Alex – it means you need your parents to enter for you

  43. Alex says:

oh thanks! I just got my dad to enter! :)

  44. Kyleigh says:

I think that it’s cool that they made a Canadian magazine! Plus American girl in America just got a new contest! I am pretty sure it’s in the newest catalog, but I will tell u a little bit about it. So you can enter to win a free American girl doll of your choice ( I didn’t check if it said anything about what dolls you can’t get, sorry ) and you also get to go to a crayola VIP tour!!! I really want to sign up! PS: It says you have to enter on Facebook. I am SO asking my mom!!

  45. Victoria says:

I think the Canadian Catalouge is cool, I just got it a few days ago. I was disapointed that the bitty twins and bitty baby was not in it though and that only 5 historical characters were in it?! I am excited about the sweepstakes though! I was always disapointed that I could not enter. I think AG should do something for the other AG lovers thiugh too since there are AG lovers all over the world not just in North America !

  46. Isla says:

I wish they had a British catalogue because that’s where I’m from

  47. This was a good choice on AG’s part!

  48. Tilde says:

Now a catalogue, stores and contests for the rest of the world? πŸ˜€
