This is a guest post by Rachel.
The Bass Pro Shops recently started carrying a line of 18″ dolls called Adventure Girlz. The dolls are made by Paradise Kids.
Recently I got this Bass Pro Shops Adventure Girlz doll. She is 18″ high and is very well made. This company also has one that is in blonde.
This is the picture of her on the side of the box. As you can see, it says “lights and sounds” for the little lantern that comes with her.
Here she is out of the box. She is very pretty, with nice clothes, that remind me a bit of Springfield doll clothes. (By the way, I named her Violet.) She came wearing a purple camo shirt, denim skirt, lace leggings, and purple tennis shoes. Her outfit can be worn by American girl dolls but the skirt is too tight for them.
Violet’s face is quite pretty but a little skinnier than an AG or Springfield doll face. Her eyes are sleep eyes and are big and a lovely shade of blue. I don’t like her eyebrows, they are too thin to look realistic. I do like her lips, they are really full and a nice shade of pink. Her hair bow is made of purple lace and elastic, and can slide on very easily.
Violet came with these really cute tennis shoes ,that are longer than her feet. Her lace leggings I think are a nice girly touch. They have a elastic waistband for easy removal.
Violet can sit nicely, but needs something behind her so she won’t fall over. She’s hard to stand too but its not impossible.
I took her hair out of the elastic it came in and loved it immediately. Her hair is extremely silky and very easy to brush. It reaches about mid-back.
Like Madame Alexander dolls, Violet has a plastic top and the rest of her torso is soft. Her torso is very different from from any other doll I own. She actually has a waist line which makes some clothes too big around the middle. Like almost any skirt.
She came with some very cute accessories including these adorable sunglasses. They fit other dolls, but not very well.
Here are the rest of Violet’s accessories. She came with a light-up lantern, butterfly net, 3 plastic butterflies, and butterfly stickers.
The lantern is one of my favorite things she comes with. You can turn it on and off, and it lights-up and makes night noises. Perfect for a camping trip.
Violet decided to try on a Springfield doll outfit first. She looks really nice in it, especially with her plastic top, but the skirt keeps trying to fall down and the shirt might slide a bit, too.
Next, she tried on Nellie’s dress. It too was a bit big around the middle (even with the elastic) but the sash fixed that. Sorry about her eyes here, the lighting wasn’t working.
Lastly Violet put on an outfit I made. The bottom is a Liberty Jane party skirt and the top is from a Simplicity doll pattern. If some one else were to get one of these I would suggest taking in any bottoms of clothes you make for them.
Thank you Rachel for sending this review in for us to enjoy!
