We have definitely been looking at quite a few new play dolls lately, but when Sharry sent in a photo of her new Adora Friends doll Jasmine for Sunday Showcase, I fell in love with the doll all over again. You see, I originally saw Jasmine at Toy Fair when Adora unveiled their revamped line of 18″ play dolls. Of the four dolls they had on display, I really liked two of them and didn’t really like the other two – it had to do with the mouth. Everytime I would walk away from the display I would come back to look at Jasmine. Over and over. I waited very patiently for them to be available online and then mid-summer I got distracted.
After seeing Sharry’s Jasmine on Sunday, I just had to order her. Luckily, Amazon carries the Adora Friends dolls and with my prime shipping being free, I was able to get her for $50 and in two days. Here is Jasmine as she comes packaged. I just knew she needed to get out of that box!
The back of her box shows all four dolls in the line – I like the two in the middle. The photos on the box of their clothes do not do them justice at all! They are so much cuter in person. From left to right the dolls are Alyssa, Kayla, Jasmine and Mia.
Out of the box and with her hair redone! I was so pleasantly surprised with this doll once I took her out of the box. Not only does she have such a pretty face, but her head moves at just about any angle – giving her more opportunities to capture the expression in her face. I just love her big brown eyes, too.
Jasmine comes wearing a green floral top, capris and fun sandals. I just love the green in her shirt!
Have you heard the saying, “it’s the little things?” Well, it’s little details like the way they zig zag parted her hair to give the back of her head a nice appearance with her pigtails that really count. She has rooted hair and this is a great way to part your doll’s hair for two ponytails.
A closer look at her shoes.
Jasmine’s body is constructed much like a Journey Girl or Madame Alexander doll in the sense that the upper part of her torso is vinyl so she can wear sleeveless tops and strappy dresses nicely. In comparison to Journey Girls and Madame Alexander, I think Jasmine is better constructed and for being top heavy (from the vinyl plate), Jasmine stands very well on her own.
Such a friendly disposition!! Her fingernails and toe nails are “painted” with a very subtle shade – much like just putting clear polish on and the tops of her hands and fee have a subtle blushing, too.
You can get a better look at Jasmine side by side with American Girl Paisley. They were going to change outfits butt Jasmine’s pants are too tight for the American Girl doll. Jasmine is more slender like Journey Girls, Madame Alexander, and similar dolls. She also seems a tiny bit shorter.
Ahhhh, she changed in to Doll Diaries pajamas and is ready to relax!
Overall, I think Jasmine might just be one of my favorite purchases this year!! In the 18″ doll world, she has one of the cutest faces and she is an excellent value at $50!
I will take more photos soon and will have her do some closet swapping, too!
