The Adora Belle Wizard of Oz dolls from Paradise Galleries are officially licensed, 12 inch porcelain dolls designed by Marie Osmond. I was recently given the opportunity to review these dolls and will be hosting a giveaway, too! Let me start by saying, these are collector dolls, not play dolls.
Meet Adora Belle Glinda and Dorothy. Each of the five Wizard of Oz dolls in the Adora Belle line (Glinda, Dorothy, Lion, Tin Man, and Wicked Witch) are sculpted by Marie Osmond and have been handcrafted with special attention to detail. If you notice, they each have the beauty mark near the corner of their eye which is something you will find in all the Adora Belle dolls.
The dolls arrive in this very unique book box. While each of the boxes is the same, the binding shows the name of the doll in the box. These boxes are really neat – not only do they make great display pieces, but they are an efficient way to store the doll as well.
Open the box and you see Dorothy very well packed for her journey. She is porcelain which makes her quite fragile so it is important that she is wrapped up like the “Stay Puff Marshmallow Man” in order to arrive safely.
Each of these dolls comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Dorothy is number 556 out of a limited edition run of 1500 and she is signed and numbered at the base of the back of her head.
Here is the very pretty Dorothy, unwrapped and ready to pose. She can not stand alone and needs to stay on her doll stand. Her dress is nicely detailed and I just love the red tulle underskirt.
Her hair comes braided and tied with red bows. The hair is nice quality, but it is evident, it is not for play.
I just love her long eyelashes! They really help bring her expression to life.
Of course, Miss Dorothy has to have her Ruby Red Slippers!!
And a little basket for Toto.
Glinda the Good Witch is just so cute! She has curly strawberry blonde locks and big blue eyes. Her dress is more detailed than Dorothy’s and she even comes wearing a butterfly necklace. Her crown and wand are detachable.
Glinda’s shoes are just like Dorothy’s but they are pink glitter.
Glinda has quite a sweet look to her – and I just love the little dimples on her cheeks.
The Wizard of Oz is definitely one of those iconic films and I know there are a lot of people who love to collect Wizard of Oz memorabilia. The quality of these dolls is fabulous – and that is coming from someone who is not a big fan of porcelain dolls to start with. They have such cute faces and the detail in their painting is beautiful.
