Sounds pretty cool to me. I’m kind of tired of all the outdoor, sportsy girls though. No offense to anyone of course. I just want to see a doll that does something else. Plays an instrument maybe? Is an artist? I mean Kailey was at the beach all the time, Marisol danced, Jess was outside in Belize, Nicki was always with the animals, Mia skated and Chrissa swims. I want something different!
Lindsey did play an instrument, the trumpet. They never made one for her because she was a poor seller.
But, I agree, I kinda want a violinist or artist. Or a cellist!

Huh, I just read a rumor that 2010’s name is Lanie. Lanie is still copywriten as an AG name, but Im not completly sure about this being 2010’s name. Again, it is a RUMOR, nothing official.

I want an AA girl. I want one. I dont care what eye color or hairstyle or even mold, as long as she’s Addy toned. And I really dont think she should have a best friend, because a BF tends to distract from the main GOTY, and it is very difficult to get all of them at once.
My favorite is Beckie, but if I must choose from that list, then Kit. Not Ruthie, just Kit.

I haven’t seen any of those dolls in real life but my favorite out of the bunch would have to be Kit and Emily, probably in that order.
I hope she doesn’t have a bff because it would be hard to get everything in one year or less, and, also, in the slight hope that they will focus more of their attention on the forgotten historical line.
NOOO!!! I really hope that the new doll isn’t a “going green” tree hugger. The whole save the environment thing is getting old and cliche. That was Kailey’s topic anyway. Enjoying the outdoors is different.
I forgot … “going green” was voted one of the top 10 cliche phrases of 2008. Surprise, surprise.
Its clichéed because its used so much, not because people shouldn’t be doing it.
Also, Kailey was 6 years ago, there’s a whole new target age that doesnt even know she existed.
Speaking of Kailey, I found one with most of her collection (minus Sandy the dog) for $70. However, she came with a bad haircut. I sent her to the doll hospital today for a new head.
“Going green” is cliche for more than one reason. But let’s not get into that. I doubt AG would go far past Kailey’s save the tidepools thing.
I hope she is for going green. That’s something I’m strongly for, and I would love to see a doll like that to relate to.

I doubt that American Girl would touch on global warming because it’s a bit of a political issue. Kailey’s deal was different. But yeah, I guess you could say I feel strongly about “going green” too. Just the opposite direction.

Oh, I remember the puzzle pieces with Jess! I was an American Girl club member and I was so excited to see a new puzzle piece each morning. The first puzzle piece was a picture of a shoe. What a long time ago … four years.

Keanna, its the puzzle that reveals the GOTY. Its like one of those countdown till Christmas calanders, where 1 piece is shown everyday until she’s revealed.

I REALY hope we get an AA GOTY! It is probably likely because of the Obama girls. But it is unlikely that Lanie will be AA because of the tendency of AG to make new dolls with books (i.e. historicals and GOTYs) be Latino or Caucasian. Their are VERY few AA and Asian AG dolls. Does anyone else agree?

Ivy, Jess, and Sonali (although she’s not what we normally think of as “Asian”) have been the only Asian characters, while Addy’s the only AA character. Actually, they stay away from Latinas too, as only Josefina and Marisol were Latina. And then there’s poor NA Kaya all alone.
