Even though we do not own American Girl Caroline, her Holiday Gown is one of my all time favorite pieces from American Girl and I thought it would be fun to let four different dolls model it. Honestly, I think it looks good on every doll, but you can be the judge as to which of these four dolls wear it best.
First to model Caroline’s Holiday Gown is 1930’s girl Kit. I decided not to use the gloves or the headband and just focus on the dress. Of course this dress and the shoes fit Kit perfectly.
On 18″ slim body doll Rowena from Carpatina, the dress works well if you just bobby pin it in the back. The shoes are a little big, but its not a total showstopper.
Madame Alexander Favorite Friends Belle looks very much at ease in this dress. She is even chatting with her doll Caroline who has joined her in the parlor. The dress fits Belle well, however, the shoes were a very snug fit.
And finally, how gorgeous does Samantha look in purple? The various shades of purple really do work on just about every combination of hair, eyes and skin color.
A few notes – apologies for the poor lighting in the photos. It has been so gloomy here lately I just haven’t been able to get any good photography in. Finally last night I decided to take these in my office – shadows and all, just so I could share them with you today.
How do you like the backdrop? Gorgeous, isn’t it? It is a reversible scene from Carpatina.com – this side is a Baroque parlor and the other side is a castle scene. It is printed on heavy cardboard and folds into 4 panels. The flooring is also reversible and folds in half for storage.
So, who do you think wears this dress best – besides Caroline?

I think it was Samantha! My own Sam has a purple dress, and I just love how she looks.
